The one time I get careless...

This morning I woke up, made a cup of coffee, grabbed my keys, and headed down the driveway to go to work. I step up to my car and notice I no longer have a driver side window! Knowing exactly what happened, I look inside the car to notice my portable GPS is gone. Last night I parked my car on the street (so I wouldn't get ticketed for blocking the sidewalk in my driveway if you all remember) and left my GPS unit on the windshield, one thing that I usually never do just as a precaution.

We live in a pleasant, subdivided neighborhood where the last thing we have to worry about is locking our doors at night and taking valuables out of our cars. Guess that all changed!!! I had to take the day off of work and have been running back and forth from the repair shop to the electronics store and back home. Thank God the insurance company is cooperating. Driving with no window gets cold!

My wallet was on the passenger seat. Good thing it's a camo wallet or they might've seen it and taken that too!! :)

Just had to vent!!

That really stinks. We are way out in the sticks, but we still lock everything up.

Now that sucks. People are pathetic.

Since break ins have started around here I normally don't keep anything of value in my car.

Good advice. I think everyone should start doing the same. It only takes a minute to keep your belongings safe, no matter where you live or how safe you think you are!!

Sometimes there is poetic justice. I had my stuff load in the truck the nite before I was going on an Oryx hunt in NM. Loaded the truck @ 10PM---planned on leaving at 5AM. Make a long story short, thieves broke in the truck---took my 30/06, spotting scope & bicno's. I had the serial # to the gun----reported it stolen. About 2 months later a car overturned on the hiway killing 2--18 year old boys. They parents came up from NM to clean out the trailor they rented. Landlord checked out the trailor a day later to geive back the security deposit---found my rifle behind a closet door. Called the police & I got it back. I bought that rifle when I was 15 back in 1971. It's been on every hunt. Lots of memories. I feel kind of bad for the kids----but not really. I really feel for their parents-----had top bury a son & find out he was a thief. CB
