icbigiowabucks
Looking to get a new rest and was wondering if anyone shoots or has shot with the muzzy drop away? and if so what do you think about it? Thanks
GWSmith
Wont shoot any other rest as long as I can keep this Bow or find another Bow that rest will fit on. I like it that much.
jm23494
I have a friend who has one and he loves it. He broke the cable slide part this year and called Muzzy and had a new part sitting at his house in a few days free of charge.
double_H
i like mine too, good arrow containment, quietness, and no strings or springs. but.. there are no micro adjustments on it and this rest needs to be tuned. you also have to make sure everything is tightened up when it is tuned. i have had it move on a hunt. if they built this rest out of aluminum and put microadjustments on it, it could very well be the best rest ever built. Rut_N_Strut
ok I will be the black sheep..... I had one and was not impressed.... I thought it was too loud and never could get it tuned right. Maybe it is just me but I took it to a dealer who messed with it too and just could not get it right. if it helps I had it on an old hoyt Havoctec. On the flip side my best friend has one on his Hoyt and seems to have gotten it set up right. He still thinks it is a little noisey I think, but it is working ok. I shoot a trophy Taker Shakey Hunter and Love it.. it is a lot more inexpensive and quiet. jmo
double_H
sorry i forgot to add that i had one on my old switchback and could not get it to work as well. if you have a roller cable guard bow, i would look at something else. the limited cable travel makes it a challenge. spikekiller
Dartonman can attest to this...I bought a ZE back in 2000 when Muzzy first put them out and I am still using it to this day. I have had to replace two screws in that time and Muzzy sent both to me free of charge. I wouldnt want to guess how many shots have went across that rest...I have had several new bows since 2000 but my ZE isnt going anywhere. As far as it being noisy...It really wasnt that bad but I did put a couple of Simms cable guard dampners on the connecting arm and that took all the noise out. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I have had one on my bows for a while now. I had one on my SQ2, and when I sold it to buy my switchback, I put it on there to. I had one problem with it, which, when I emailed the tech at muzzy and told them about it, along with sending pics, he said he had never seen one break like that before. They replaced pretty much the entire thing free of charge, even though it was 2 years old. I had bough a ripcord to replace the muzzy but when I changed strings a few months ago I put the muzzy back on. It'll be a while before I use anything else. Flintlock1776
I have a drop away, forget the brand. I like it. It is an improvement over my Whisker Biscuit and that was an improvement over a regualr rest and so it goes...............

Leo
Those who have a MZE setup right love them. They are solid and dependable. Mine is the quietest rest I've ever used so I don't understand the noise comments. I guess it's possible but I'd sure wonder if I had one that was noisy based on how quiet the one I have now is. I've only had two issues with mine. Both were related to tech shop "pros". The first issue was right at install. The cables were crossed on the wrong side of the cableguide. On my bow you actually need to swap sides from standard for the MZE to work right. It's in the manual. No one ever reads those except me though so I wasn't too mad at the installer. I fixed it and then all was well. The other issue was when I had my cable replaced. The "Pro" was convinced my rest needed to drop a little faster and made an adjustment. It's actually possible to make a MZE drop too fast. The result was the arrows hitting the shelf and porpoising. I slowed the rest back down and arrows flew right again. I'm a little less impressed with that dude. On most bows the cable slide lags a little as the bow string moves the first few inches. The ones that move as soon as the bow string starts to move don't allow the arrow to get enough momentum to keep from falling with the rest. So if your bow is like that it's very difficult to get the MZE to work right. You want the rest to guide the arrow the first couple inches with a fall away. I think some folks get too enthusiastic about getting the rest to drop too fast.
Flintlock1776
I think all drop a-ways work on the same principle. Merchandising/marketing may be the only true difference.
skooba
I have one on my hoyt xtec. I bought the bow from a different guy than i usually get my stuff from and he had set my muzzy up wrong. I took it to my normal dealer and he fixed it right. But it was still hitting the fletching. Well come to find out my strings were stretched and it was throwing everything off. I put new strings and cable on and it works very well and i will keep it as long as i can. It is 4 years old now. I love it.
Switchback29A1
I had a WB for a few years and since Waddell had one, well i just had to have one. Put it on my Switchback, and didn't like it/ couldn't get it set up right. So over the summer i took it to my local pro shop and had the tech fix it as best he could. Still didn't like it..it's sitting in the box in my room and the WB is back on. Lol anybody wanna very lightly used ZE?
