Missed160
How often do you have your string replaced on a compound bow? What are the signs that a string should be replaced? Thanks
spikekiller
I replace mine about every other year...but if you see it fraying or if you get any nicks in it you should replace it asap. Keep a close watch on where the serving goes over the cams...that is where servings like to separate a lot of times A good bow string wax will help with string life. LifeNRA
The moment the string has tension on it it starts a decline. Using wax like mentioned above helps with string life. If you do a lot of shooting, like everyday, hunting, and 3D shoots. You should probably change once a year. If your like me once or twice a week, and only hunting, then every two years would be good. hutchies
True true...............Just remember the more you shoot the sooner it has to be replaced. There is no rule of thumb for how long one will last. Depends on how much you shoot.
Straight Shooter
A lot also depends on the type of material it is made out of, with the new materials strings are being made from they will last a lot longer. I had one of my last bows with a string that lasted 8 years on my hunting bow and changed my string on my tournament bow once just for giggles and that string had 1,000's of shots on it. Take care of them, inspect for nicks and freys and you'll be okay. However, the most critical part on the string is under the serving were you nock you arrow, this is the biggest pinch point and gets the most action. Most strings I've see break have broken there, have your serving changed at least once every two seasons just be sure about the strands under your serving. backwoods07
For me, the sign I had to replace my string was when I shot and hit the cam on the stand and knicked my string Depends on how much you shoot and what kind of string you use. I have a top of the line string and shoot a lot and will probably replace it after 3-4 full seasons.
