Guest bukrub
I am new to this forum stuff. Really wanted to say thanks to all of you who commented on my situation. Seems there are a lot of true sportsmen out there who are in it for the love of the hunt not just the kill. Don't have a lot of avid bow people around here so it's good to here from people who are.I have not harvested many deer with a bow, this is a first hit without a kill and rightfully leaves me upset. But I love the sport and will move on but that 8 pt. will be on my mind for a long time to come believe me. Thanks again and good hunting to you all. This weekend is the last one for us and I'll be in the woods hoping for another chance.
backwoods07
I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that's what we're here for. That buck will probably never get out of your head, but all of us hunters have that one deer stuck in our minds. You're not alone!! Good luck this weekend
hungry hunter
bukrub, hey don't feel bad, you have had the oppertunity that will last you a life time. I have been bow hunting for 25 years now and have only harvested 1 doe, I have missed every buck, 1 ten point, 6 eight points, 4 six points, can't tell you how many spikes and fours. I still live the memeory or every shot. you are in the woods and enjoy the memories and storys. my wife even says the t-shirt that states "VEGATERIAN, indian word for bad hunter is me". It will happen sooner or later just enjoy the world of bow hunting.

m gardner
There was a large hunting community in the northeast until a few years ago. I had to move west to a drier climate for my health (the docs thought I had problems from having Lyme disease) and moved right into the middle of hunting and shooting heaven. It's nice not to be surrounded by fruits and nuts anymore. When some people in Bennington, Vermont stopped in the middle of town to scream at me and call us murderers one day because we had a couple of deer in the back of the truck I knew things were changing. They were wrong of course because they were still alive afterwards. My boy still Lives in New Hampshire and is about fed up with it too. I think he'll bail out eventually. All I can say is go west young man. Mark

Been a LONG time since I scored a deer with a bow, but my love for the hunt and being in the woods is the main part, everything else is a perk.
