Dakota
Anyone ever hunt turkeys with a double barrel, particularly a 12 gauge o/u? Dakota
EKYhunter
Never used one but they would be just as effective as any shotgun with the right choke/load combo!
Nut
Never used one but they would be just as effective as any shotgun with the right choke/load combo! I agree unless both go off at the same...I hurt just thinking about that.
colorado bob
I let my wife use my Berretta o/u. She's killed severalgobblers with it. Full & mod chokes. I put the full choke in the bottom barrel & have it selected as the 1st barrel fired. That way it's recoil is more into her shoulder. It can shoot 3" shells but we use 2 3/4"-----mainly because my 870 only shoots 2 3/4". I don't want to think of which shells to use @ 5AM. I believe in the KISS method. Keep It Simple Stupid. CB My dad also use a double barrel----it's a sXs. Double barrel guns work. CB

Guest TennesseeTurkey
I've never seen anybody using one but its really not going to matter if you can call him in close enough to reach out and grab him anyway lol

Guest Temp430
Benelli Nova i have a benelli nova in 3.5 inch. i am trying to find a good combination without having to spend a ton of money. if anyone has this gun or know people that do and have a good setup, pleas let me know. thanks I just purchased a Benelli Nova with a 26" barrel. I patterned six different turkey loads using a Carlson ported turkey choke (0.665") and Tru Glo Pro Gobble Dot sights. I obtained the best patterns with Federal's Mag-Shok 3.5" Heavyweight turkey loads with Flitecontrol wads. The difference between the Federal and other loads was remarkable. I'm not sure why this is but I can think of two possibilities: 1. Federal's Heavyweight shot is perfectly round and 38% more dense than lead and significantly heavier than hevi shot. 2. Federal's flight control wads uses a "cup" to hold the shot while all the other loads used traditional wads. The Calson choke is ported with slots cut perpendicular to the bore that the petals of the traditional wads may catch on the way out? MichiganHunter
My girl wasn't able to muster my 12g with 3 1/2's so she was using my dads 20g o/u with a full choke(tightest i could get) shot fine would of killed a bird if she was able to connect. Dakota
Well, the double barrel just moved to back up gun status! I just sold all of my videogames and systems, went to Scheels and bought a 3 1/2" 12 ga. Realtree Hardwoods Mossberg 835 with fiberoptic sights and a TruGlo red dot scope already mounted on it! It was on sale for $349 excluding tax. I had enough money for the gun, but not for $11 of the extra $21 in tax, so I bargained with them and got it for ten dollars less (purchase pending on the fact that I had to take off my Cabela's hat and wear one of their that was provided to me free of charge :D:D). I have never had a nicer visit to Scheels! Looking forward to the prospect of bagging two Merriams and an Eastern this spring! Cluck cluck gobble gobble BANG!!!!!! :D:D Dakota
Tecumseh
I used a 835 grand slam turkey gun for a few years and sold it to a friend last year and now have a 870 supermag turkey gun with a 23" barrel.
