So I left about 3:30pm yesterday, drove the 15 minutes over to camp, opened the gate, closed the gate, drove up, parked. Got my stuff and walked up to the spot I had planned to ground hunt from, near our little flower garden in the woods. I get there and the spot seemed too sparse for me, I feltl ike I'd get picked out so I moved back about 10 feet into the edge of the pines behind me. I break off a couple branches, get the video on the digital camera going and start waiting. Basically there is a trail 10 feet from me that we hike on, leading up to a very old overgrown horse track. There's woods and apple trees in some brushy stuff, lots of deer sign around. I'm there maybe 15 minutes and I hear the deer moving, the snow was crunchy, it was great! I watch and wait and maybe 15 minutes later they appear under the apple trees!!!! A couple does then a deer comes down the trail off the old track and it's a buck:eek::eek::eek: Couldn't tell how many points, wasn't giant but nice. Well I never got a shot from where I was sitting, but had I been in the first spot, I could have had a 20-25 yard shot!!! I watched them for a good half hour, they didn't want to step out into the open, maybe they sensed something was there but they were feeding and standing around alot in the brush. They fed off into the woods then it got late so I got up to move and as I walked down the trail, heard them down in the woods take off. I hope they didn't get too spooked...I don't think they did, and I'm hoping they are back today because guess where I'll be:D As I watched those, I could also hear deer moving way down behind me and when I walked out and into camp, walking down the gravel path, out in the grassy field next to the operations/maintenance building were deer feeding! the wentb ack in so I couldn't tell what they were. I threw some branches and stuff into my originally ground blind area and plan to be there tonight, hopefully having an ok wind.

If I do get a deer, since our freezer is full, my mom knows like the whole Amish community near us and I'll probably giveo ne of the family's the deer (minus the rack if it's a buck:rolleyes:) To get a late season deer, from the ground would be an awesome accomplishment for me, but seeing them last night was quite the thrill.
