snake3113
When my mom passed away, I descided to get a tattoo of the things she loved..example...She loved lighthouses and her favorite flower was a sunflower...So I got a lighthouse and a sunflower in place of the sun... crazylegz70
So maybe something with a Maple leaf that looks realistic and inside of it some sort of animal or something that he loved to hunt...
Steven
If you have to ask for ideas, perhaps you should reconsider getting one. Typically a tattoo is something that means a lot to the individual, but asking for ideas on a message board could be a sign that a tattoo isn't the right way to honor him. JMO. But death is not somethign you need to think about cant go wrong with a nice Buck head sorry about your Uncle Tink I agree with Tink, you are going to have an awful lot of dates on yourself if you feel obligated to ink a date like that on you each time. Not to rain on your parade, but but coming from a guy that myself has two tattoos, (which by coincidence is two too many), I would try to maybe remember him with a collage (sp), of pictures or something. I am truly sorry to ehar of your loss though...
Eddie234
If he love to hunt and was a guide how about getting something etched onto your favorite hunting rifle? That way he can be with you out in the woods. JMO
GWSmith
Taking the chance that this may be misunderstood... Different perspectives from other people are often a very good way to get many ideas. Ideas that may touch an aspect of some memories you have of him. The memories you have of him dont need to be permanently imprinted in your skin. Tattoos fade over time...the life that he passed to you is etched on your heart. With or without a tattoo ultimately when your alone with your thoughts about losing him the pain will be there. Even that will fade over time! Live your life in a way that honors his memory...a life that will make the next generation ask the same questions your asking now....your Uncle would be Greatly Honored. I have 2 tattoos for events which happened in my life, which years later I realized, I never needed to commemorate: One I got in San Antonio, Texas on my first weekend leave from basic training.....USAF The other one is a Wolf tearing it's way out of my chest when I lost my Daughter. Pain subsides...memories live forever.

No offense here guys, but he didn't ask us for reasons not to get a tat, or your opinions on getting tats....he asked for ideas. So lay off with the negative tattoo remarks eh? Shorty, I think a tat is a great idea if your sure you want it to be there forever. I'll be honest, I regret both of my tats. I was warned I would, but I didn't listen lol. But neither of mine have meaning like yours would. I really like the idea of a realistic looking maple leaf ( I'm talkin detailed ) with a ghost image of a monster buck or whatever kinda animal he loved to hunt the most in the leaf. Talk to your artist, describe it all to him, you'll be surprised what they can come up with for ya.
wyohunter
just an idea... have two maple trees, one smaller one full of leaves ( you) and a old one, with the last maple leaf falling to symbolize your gp

LOL, if I remember right Kyle, you were warned by the people on here that you just told to lay off the other fellar! I live to be a billboard to my kids for what not to do sometimes I think. I thought the gun engraving was a great idea... have his name and date engraved on the receiver or barrel of your deer rifle maybe. Or you can also get a nice tattoo... TreeStandBowHunter
This is funny:D Anyway, It's your body and your money so do with it what you will. I am all for the memory tattoos. If you do decide to get a tattoo, just be careful where you put it and make sure you will like where its put. Tattoos are normally forever engraved if you know what I mean;)

Nut
shorty if I memorialized all my loved ones that have passed on it, tatoos probably would take up my whole body. My advice is to get a few choices, look at them for a couple of weeks before deciding.
The_Kat
LOL, if I remember right Kyle, you were warned by the people on here that you just told to lay off the other fellar! Yep, them and a lot more folks. But heres the thing that gets me. He didn't ask for our opinions on if we did or didn't like tats, he asked for ideas about what kind to get. And back to my other point, my tats were just a "I WANT ONE!!!!" thing....lil thought went into them. I walked in picked one, and tada~ Shortys is gonna mean something to him forever. I really like the idea....sorry to come off grumpy, but I hate when people ask for one thing, and negative remarks just start rollin in cause someone disagrees with it. slugshooter
Well, I've got one, which I believe I posted a pic of back when I got it in '03. My wife has 3, 2 of which she got before me, the last one she got is of my name on her wrist. Now, how many can say that your wives have a tattoo of your name on their body?? :D Edited December 14, 2008 by slugshooter
Randy
Here's one that I got as an everyday reminder of my son. I'm still trying to come up with one for my daughter.
stevebeilgard
i can help. don't do it. a nice funeral is to honor your uncle. it is now time to heal. good memories are wonderful, but not a constant reminder. the pain of his death will lessen with time. think of him from time to time, but no tat to remember him daily by. Steven
No offense here guys, but he didn't ask us for reasons not to get a tat, or your opinions on getting tats....he asked for ideas. So lay off with the negative tattoo remarks eh? Okay, since you quoted me, I'd suggest you reread what I wrote. I said that if he were wanting a tattoo that means something to him, perhaps he should get a tattoo that means something to him- Not ask people on a message board for ideas that mean something to him. I don't know how that is interpreted to being a negative comment about tattoos- unless, you are one of those guys who always looks for people who have something against tattoos. I'm not telling anyone not to get a tattoo. Who am I to say what somebody does with their body? Personally, I'm not a tattoo guy, but different strokes for different folks. In conclusion, if you're going to get all uppity over something that wasn't said to you, at least try to understand exactly what you're getting upset about in the first place. Thanks.
