Jorden
Not a big fan of eab because IMO we dont need it anymore...the DNR created it to try and reduce the herd numbers and obviously with all the grief they are getting about the low deer sightings I'd say it has worked. By us, we've decided we're not shooting does anymore this year because frankly there is not that many deer by us and we can only hope that next year they can bounce back some... VermontHunter
Vermont just uped there 1 buck limit back to 2 from years past .. I would have much rathered to see 2 doe and 1 buck. Zambo
In Minnesota it's one buck statewide a season for any weapon. Up to four antlerless deer in intensive harvest areas. But they allow gun season during the rut here. Bucks have no chance to age when they are gun hunted during the rut. I like how Wisconsin has the season set up now and I wish Minnesota would do something like they do. One buck archery, one buck gun season. Gun hunting after the rut. Depending on the calander year, our firearm season does hit the tail-end of the rut quite a bit. It is quite common to see bucks running does at least on opening weekend. I would like to see a later season to totally miss the rut, aiding in bucks being less active. However the tradition of the weekend before Thanksgiving is huge, and with myself included. If you take the tradition out of hunting, its just shooting deer. IMHO.
RUTNSTRUT
I would LOVE to see a one buck limit, but it will never happen. There are to many brown it's downers in this state that would whine. These are the same cry babies that whine now because of EAB and they have to let a 1.5 year old walk. I wish some of these "hunters" that hit the woods 1 or 2 days a year that keep threating to quit hunting. Would actually stick to their word,we don't need people like that in this sport. Dakota
In South Dakota we have a very liberal season and tag limit. I think you can have a maximum of 5 East River licenses (1 or 2 tag licenses mule, whitetail or any), 5 West River (1 or 2 tag mule, whitetail or any), 3 Muzzleloader (1 or 2 tag, any and statewide), 3 archery (1 or 2 tag, any and statewide) and 5 youth (and and statewide). So that means the maximum a person could have is 36 deer tags and that is not including Refuge, Custer State Park and Black Hills deer. I love South Dakota! :D:D Dakota
Randy
I have no problem with the one tag part. The thing I don't understand is how do they think this will reduce the deer population? WI is like 5 billion dollars in the hole. Somewhere in all of this there has to be money made and I can't figure out where they're trying to get it???
Buckeyenut
It hasn't hurt anything in Ohio having one buck per hunter state wide, no matter what you take it with. We can kill 4 here in NC and I wish they'd go to one or maybe two allowed. Oh contrare! I bet it hurt Tominator when he filled his buck tag the first 5 minutes in stand this year! Jake Lake
1 buck with a firearm and 1 buck with a bow here in Iowa..
gzilla45
I'd like to see them keep the current licensing system. One buck with bow and one with a gun. I really don't think that many bucks are getting shot. It's the EAB, and all of the early and late antlerless hunts that are hurting our hunting. Too many guys are shooting as many does as they see in areas where the deer numbers aren't there to begin with. I can remember when our group got maybe 1 or 2 antlerless tags during the gun season. I get that many by myself now without having to purchase anything extra. Maybe we should go back to how it was in the past.

Our economic and common sense challenged governor loves to sock it to us sportsmen and women. The dumb %*$ met with Obama to cry about HIS $5 Billion deficit but won't trim the boatloads of meaningless wasteful spending he does. More plans for this and more for that, us poor guys flip the bill. We have to cut back just to make ends meet, but he's going to up our hunting licenses and car registration again, thats crap. That dumb %*$ can't even keep a couple people to run the entire state EMS department. We have been waiting for over 6 months for an upgrade in our Ambulance Service's Providers License so we can give more advanced levels of care to our patients. But the Gov. can fly here and fly there and blah blah blah. I am very sorry for getting off track for this thread but you opened up a sore spot with me and I stood on my soap box. Sorry again.........okay, I feel better now.
