buckee
December 13th, 2008 We had a little snow last Friday, with more on the way for the weekend, and I was supposed to go to Victoria for my 6 month cancer check-up. We canceled, and re-booked for January, so Diana and I decided to go for a little hike, and once again look for my buck, and whatever else we could find. It sure has been fun having her out in the bush with me, and Saturday turned out to be treasure day for her. We were walking down a deer trail, and I had just finished telling her about a couple of deer sheds I had found close to this location. She looks down at my feet and excitedly says "I .. I .. I found one". There at my feet were two little greenish tines sticking through the leaves, as she quickly reached down to claim her prize. It was an exciting moment for both of us, and I gave her a huge kiss, smiled, and said , "Way to go !" She was smiling the rest of the day. Needless to say, Blacktail sheds are pretty hard to find here, because of the dense undergrowth, of the west coast rain forest, and Diana is pretty proud of her first shed. I'm dang proud of her too .......good eye honey.

Doe-ee
That's awesome! You go girl!! Must not have too many squirrels up there ,lol. Thanks:) We don't have any grey squirrels on the island but we do have these little chipmunk size red squirrels. There were a couple of chew marks on the shed so maybe they got a nibble or two.
