Dawg
What caliber do you recomend for a conceal carry weapon? I'm not sure if I want to go semi or revolver. I'm thinking about the XD subcompact .40, .45. or 9mm or if I go revolver, snub nose/hammerless .38. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Hoyt fanatic
I like the 45 acp with 230grain Federal Hydra-shocks. They are devastating.
PotashRLS
Though not a Conceal Carry size, my SA XD Tactical in .45 ACP is a tack driver. The quality of the XD is great too. I enjoy shooting it as the recoil is very manageable.
csualumni21000
Training is more important than what you will carry. If you will be carrying take a class that will teach you to fight with what you buy.

aksheephuntress
....I trust you know what you have seen to shoot straight and true... -yet, please take a moment to consider the Sig Saur .45 ... -sweet and proven side arm....-wish I had never parted with it...... High Country
Select a pistol or revolver that fits your hand well and is comfortable to carry...the second rule is bigger is generally better, if you can comfortably handle it. Not knowing your shooting experience, I would recommend... 1. Glock 19 in 9mm (I have not shot the XDs) 2. Ruger SP101 in .357 Magnum (you can use .38 loads, but it gives you more options) I also like the following for shooters with some experience... 1. Beretta 92FS / Taurus PT-92 in 9mm 2. Sig Sauer 226 in 9mm 3. Sig Sauer 228 in both .357 SIG and .40 S&W (two barrels) 4. 1911s in .45 ACP...(the two that feel the best to me are the Springfield CPD and the Kimber Raptor)

Rem308
I've taken a class and know what your talkin about but thanks for the tip anyways!! I think I'm gonna go with the XD subcompact in the .40 Cal. Thanks again! A friend that I hit the range with often bought the XD Subcompact .40 cal a year ago (or so)...he really likes it. I have shot it many times and I like it too. It's a very well made handgun that shoots well. He bought a laser/light for the rail and mounted it, really likes it. He used to carry it all the time, but he got a really good deal on a Kahr CW9 9mm and now the XD doesn't leave the safe. Both are great firearms. Here's a link to the Kahr: http://www.kahr.com/PA-1_9mm_cw.html
snapper
Whatever you get...if your getting for a CC, don't go cheap! Make sure its going to go "bang" if you need it to go "bang"! Me personally, I like a 1911 in .45acp, I prefer a Para Ordnance.
dartonman
Speaking from my wifes experience as an Emergency room nurse, who tried to bring back to life a bank robber....well...three shots upper chest with a .40 caliber from the police officer.......she confirms its a fine weapon, that had a tight group, and large exit holes....I do not feel sorry for people robbing people....shoot something you can control, and will bet your life on every time....We need concealed carry in Illinois...............al
