FireStrut
I have a Browning A-Bolt in the above caliber and I have been shooting Federal Premium 140 grain, Nosler Accubond in it and have had good results. My question is, Is this ammo, Winchester Supreme Accubond CT Rifle Ammunition just as good as the Federal Premium or even better. The reason I am asking is I can get the Winchester shells local and I have to travel to another city to get the Federal.
doubleA
To start with as you probably already know the individual rifle is just that. What works well in one might not in another and vice versa. With that said, you might as well try the Winchester Supremes and find out for yourself.I recently went on the Realtree Wisconsin deer hunt host by Randy here on the boards. I chose a stock Sako in 270 WSM for this hunt. I have been handloading my ammo for 35 years but decided to use only factory ammo for this rifle. I try several "premium" loads in this particular rifle and low and behold it liked the Winchester Supreme 140 gr Accubond's the best. They averaged 3210fps over the chrono in my 24 inch barrel which is quite snappy. While there I took 4 deer, all with one shot each and the were all DRT's with that load. Here's a 300 yard target while evaluating some loads, it plain to see what my Sako perfered.
