Guest Whitetail fanatic Posted December 19, 2008 Report Share Posted December 19, 2008 Are the 2009 Fred Bear Truth 2's and Done Deal bows the same as the '08's? I'm looking to buy a new bow this coming spring and I've narrowed the makes down to Fred Bears and Whisper creek Archery. I shoot a 20 year old bear hunter now and love it. Still is a solid bow and fairly accurate. It's slow and noisy however. I'm not interested in speed as much as quietness and smoothness. Any one know anything that might help on this decision? It will be hard to go with anything other than a Bear, given the service of my present bow. That and the primos boys seem like my kinda guys. Guest Whitetail fanatic Posted December 20, 2008 Report Share Posted December 20, 2008 Yeah, I hear a lot of good things about them. Looks like a good hunting bow, which is what I'm interested in. I have read that the string dampeners tend to wear out fast. I like the looks and what I've read about the whisper creek bows also, just haven't heard much about them. They claim to be the quietest at 65db which is pretty quite. I saw a good looking mathews in the classifieds on this forum, appears to be a sweet deal, ready to shoot. Never base your Bow purchase from who is Currently getting sponsered by the Bow company...for instance: it was not too long ago that the Primos boys used to shoot PSE and now thier shooting Bear;) I had an early version of the Whisper Creek "Stealth"...Very, Very Quiet Bow and it felt like it weighed almost nothing. Actually had it shipped to me and when I picked up the box for the first time I temporarily got PO'ed thinking it was empty! The early versions had problems with the roller cable gaurd offset. bowhuntnsmycrack Posted December 20, 2008 Report Share Posted December 20, 2008 Ive shot the primos truth series before they are a very nice bow! smoth draw, the let off makes you feel like your holding air and practicallly no weight even at 70 lbs. Granite I would never buy one because ive shot about everybow and the market and for some reason PSE still has me inlove. Ive been bowhunting since i was 13 years old started out with a pse polaris that my father gave me and i had to learn everything about it by myself. Then in 2007 I bought a pse brute and omg i love my bow to death. Then they came out with the x-force so in 09 im looking into that because 352 fps is mighty fast gets to the target quick and they will not jump the string at that speed. The X-Force yes costs alot but if you find game it will pay right off. My buddy Josh shot 1 bear and 5 deer in maine with it this season and a 140in 9 pointer in ohio with it. not 1 deer was fast enough to jump the string even at 50 yards Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I believe they were...just as they were with the Team Primos model of PSE Bow when they were shooting thiers;) What year was your Whisper Creek? Any info on their customer service? Thanks. If I remember correctly my Stealth was an 05 model. Customer service was handled by a local dealer who carried thier line. He did everything he could to get the roller gaurd to work properly but was unsuccessful. I remember him saying that at the time the Roller Gaurd being used on the Whisper Creek Stealth was being manufactured by Mathews. The angle of the offset was the issue as it simply did not roll as it should and the cables started to cut into the roller itself. In the end I traded the Bow into him, for what I had into it, and purchased my Wifes entire archery setup in the Mathews line. I would consider either of the Bow Manufacturers you mentioned just out of curiosity if I was in the market again. I'd shoot so many different Bows until I got tired of trying new ones out...then I'd go back through the ones that stood out on the first trip. I'd continue to whittle down the choices until there was only one left standing. When/If I buy another Bow...when I walk out the door it will be without any doubts the choice was the best one I could make at the time. Like I said, I'm hunting with a 20 year old Bear Hunter that most folks would laugh at. Archery has made some serious advancement in those 20 years. During this time I've added to my bear the overdraw that was a must have in the day. I've got limbsavers, bohning quiver, fancy release, carbon arrows, but still the same old bow. It's going to be interesting what I end up with. I'm like earnhards12000, in that I'd rather have quiet than speed. That's just personal preference I guess. With the kinda speed bowhuntinsmycrack is talking about, I guess you wouldn't have to worry about noise. Man 352fps is fast. Thanks guys, you've been helpful. If any of you guys ever draw an elk tag for my area, give me a shout, I'll hook you up. Sambar Hunter Posted January 14, 2009 Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) Mate you would have to be stupid to buy a whisper creek bow over a bear bow, my bro just recently got a Bear Truth 2 and it shots like a demon and 3 months ago he was doing the exact same thing your doing now concentrating more on quietness and smoothness of a bow rather then speed. I was standing next to my brother when he shoot this billy goat from a 48 metre up hill shot with about a 6 metre elevation with his new Bear Truth 2 bow. It was standing on rocky out crop, the shot was a complete pass through takeing out heart and its spine. So my verdict is the Bear Truth 2!!! I purchased it in 1988 and hunted with it until 2003. I went with the Bear TRX (Realtree was sponsering back then:D) and love it. I too have heard good things about the truth 2.
