cflhunter
Any of you Illinois boys had any recent success? I know you've probably been hammered by the recent weather. We're headed your way the day after Christmas in hopes of finally filling our archery tag. Has the recent weather really put a hurtin' on things? I'm hoping I have a chance! Guest IllinoisMackDaddyHunter
Been pretty slow. First shotgun was down and so was the second. The rut kicked butt, but we have downed 52% to 48% doe to bucks this year. Been a wierd year for sure. This time of year is the most unpredictible. Hard to get in stands with the ice and the deer move when they feel like it. Some days mornings are best , other days its in the afternoons. Good luck and be safe. fly
Last harvest was a big 8-pointer on Nov. 21st. Haven't been out a lot though. I got my 2 does (one in Oct. and one in early Nov.). I will also have a 350.00 taxidermist bill for the 8-pointer. I'm still seeing does near feeding areas, but no bucks. If there was a rut this year it sure went quick! Rut_N_Strut
I went a couple of times last week and saw a TON of deer.. all around food sources.... we had a small patch of beans the farm could not get so they are hammering that. I am seeing a lot of does yarding up and a few bucks. mostly 1 1/2's but a feww 2 1/2's. i saw one really nice buck but it was at very first light

HOYTnMUZZYboy
I havent been out much since 2nd season shotgun. Few of my buddies have been hittin it pretty hard and went from seeing tons of deer everynight to seeing maybe one or two a night. And there in some really good spots. I'm gonna start hittin it pretty hard again to see if I can fill my last buck tag with another shooter. Good luck to ya and let us know how you do! MUDRUNNER
Our season has pretty much stunk.Generally we take 12-14 deer a year, and this year all together we have only taken 6.I'm not giving up yet though.I'll be back at it next weekend. stiennen
Seeing deer The deer have been out feeding after the rut and with this ice crust we have down they are staying in the fields longer trying to rustle up some grub. They are hearding around here (Peoria Area)
layin on the smackdown
I have been seeing some dalight activity, and i have also started seeing more coyote movement as well. Note: really weird and i don't know why, but all the deer i have been seeing have been in the beans lately...i always thought corn was the way to go this time of year, so i set up my ground blind on the edge of a corn field and have not seen one deer in the darn corn. even with all the snow we have here, they are scraping the ground in the bean fields.
Bowtech_archer07
It's been slow all season for me.. I finally got lucky and got a 125" 9 ptr with my muzzleloader last day of the season last weekend. Good luck though!!
Mach1
It's been an odd season. My brother, dad, and I have taken a total of 6 deer this year, 4 of those are 140+ inch bucks. We haven't seen the number of does that we're used to. The ratio is generally skewed the other way. I too have noticed more deer in cut bean fields that in cut corn. I'm seeing very few deer in the corn. The buck I shot was taken during our muzzleloader only season about 10 days ago.
