Illinois59
WV: 6th hunting death reported in W.Va. buck season December 8, 2008 6th hunting death reported in W.Va. buck season By The Associated Press CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Division of Natural Resources reports another hunter has died in an all-terrain-vehicle-related accident. The DNR says 60-year-old Alan Roscoe Crouse of Bluefield was killed Friday when the ATV he was riding flipped over. Crouse suffered head injuries. DNR spokesman Hoy Murphy says Crouse's death brings the total number of hunters killed during this year's two-week buck season to six. That's one more than the total deaths during the 2007 season. Of the hunter deaths this year, Murphy says two were ATV related, two died of apparent heart attacks, one fell from an elevated stand and one fell into a slurry pond. Two victims were hunters from Virginia. Please be careful out there.
Tink
They say 1 out of 2 hunters never use a safety belt Note none of the West VA Accidents were due to shooting I used to own a ranch there I Love West VA Tink
stevebeilgard
deaths like that are always a shame. as for those having a heart attack, i think that would be a good way to go. die while hunting. anyway, any death while hunting is not good. i do like what tink pointed out, that none were shooting accidents. that's great
Alisha
In previous years it was UNREAL how many ATV deaths there were here in West Virginia each year. The terrain is pretty dangerous and not something to toy with, depending where you are. I know from experience. I rolled my suzuki z250 over the side of a mountain that was almost straight up and down and the only thing that cushioned my fall was BRIARS! My wheeler rolled on top of me, almost breaking my left leg and I also have permanent bruising on my right calf which I commonly refer to as my "dent". I was wearing my helmet, which I swear saved my life. My wheeler rolled 4 or 5 times down the mountain and somehow landed on all four tires, and only suffered broken clips on the plastics and a $130 part for the steering shaft. Be CAREFUL on those things, they can kill you in the blink of an eye no matter how great of a rider you think you are.
