NY911Bowhunter
Check this out. There is a Tractor Supply store next to our family property and we have to go through thier rear lot to get to the grocery store or the bow shop. Last month when we were camping there, I noticed the metal utility trailers were stacked up, seperated by big styrofoam blocks, some 3 x 3 some 2 x 3. There was a big one lying on the ground near the dumpster, so I grabbed it. I figured it would make a good target if it was solid. One shot confirmed it was indeed solid. Last night my brother in law and I went on a little recon mission, only to find a manager of some loitering back there. I asked what they did with the blocks and he siad they chuck them and we could take them if we wanted! There were hundreds of small 2 x 3 blocks and only 5 3 x 3 blocks, but we ended up getting a 6 foot by 6 foot by 6 foot PALLET of these blocks! I filled my Explorer up! I am going to put them together to make a "Target wall" with foam animal cutout targets and such. I will put my 3D and my Black hole in front too! I will never buy another target again! Check out your local farm supply store, they may do the same!
christsavedme
Re: Super Cheap Targets I will be checking into this.....Thanks for the tip. Never know where you will come up on a bargain..and free is for sure a bargain. I don't think my wife would complain about that purchase....HA
Jeramie
Re: Super Cheap Targets Awesome! I actually have been looking for some dense foam for a back stop. I though about calling a dock builder about it but that is one I haven't thought about! Ill check all of the farm supply places around here! Guest Bowhunter2114
Re: Super Cheap Targets Me also. I just built a thing for my targets to go in. It has a roof, and I have haybails behind my targets. My arrows go through the bales.

NY911Bowhunter
Re: Super Cheap Targets OK, progress report 1; I used duct tape to tape the 4 huge blocks together, making a solid wall of strofoam, about 6 foot by 4 foot. This has held up very well, not allowing any pass throughs, not even a point sticking through with just a cardboard deer sillouhette on it. This is a great broadhead target, because I don't care if it gets chopped up! It was free! I taped the smaller blocks together and made a bunch of smaller targets to which I will affix smaller critter targets to and set up a nice range. The big wall will eventually be the backstop for my 3D deer.
ruttinbuc
Re: Super Cheap Targets Styrofoam really puts the brakes on an arrow regardless of what it is tipped with. Those big solid blocks that they use as crash barriers at race tracks would be the ticket. Wonder where you could get a couple of them on the cheap! Tony
Re: Super Cheap Targets good find there ... like you said even if it gets chewed up you can always replace it for free. that is until TSC finds out what your doing with them or some enterprizing person ! better keep your secrets to yourself .. NY911Bowhunter
Re: Super Cheap Targets TSC gave me the goahead to take a bunch - they just chuck em. There are literally hundred in the rear of the store, and it is a smaller sized store. I did slip and mention it to the Pro Shop next door, man did the owner's face light up! It is all good though, he is setting up a 3D course behind the shop, so I will make him let me shoot for free! If he starts selling them though, we are gonna tussle!
