They negotiated our severance/seperation package at work

needless to say it isn't very good for us.Thing that I don't like is,, they have told us that we must sign a paper that states in the future we cannot come back & sue them for any reason. I refuse to sign this & don't even think they should be able to do this. We work around many things that could cause health issues down the road. Have asbestos all over the place, silica, we have a hazardous waste facility onsite & burn hazardous waste (HWDF) in the kiln. There are many other health hazards around there also. I am not going to sign something that could cost me everything later in life if I end up with a major health issue related to this job. Has anybody ever dealt with a situation like this.

Check with a lawyer. I have seen one case where the suit for a health issue was thrown out because of the former employee signing this sort of thing.

But can you do without the severence?

May be better to sign for a "known" and hope that like you say you can justify non-legal situtation later for an "unknown".

Yes I can & probably will do without the severance package. I have told then that no matter how much money they give me I am not signing a paper that says I cannot come back on them for health issues caused by their company. We are going to have some lawyers look at it & tell us what they think. Maybe they will change my mind but right now I have no intentions of signing it.
