Guest IowaRobinhood
When I go bowhunting, I am almost insane over my scent control. I always shower first with dead down wind, use body foam after, spray down, wear my base layers to my hunting area, get dressed in my pickup from my clothes I keep in a tote, spray down again. I am getting back into muzzleloader after a 15 year break. I will be going late season this year. My question is to those of you going late ml, how scent consious are you? Do you follow the same plan you did as bowhunting or are there different considerations? I am curious what you late season guys are doing on this topic-
stcif
Interseting question as I just experienced this in NY a couple weeks ago. Second to last day of the season (ML). Very high winds, 25 MPH gusts. I saw several deer and they kept getting on the edge of a field about 75 yards away and would spook. I know for a fact they were winding me. Wind was blowing right to them and I was in a ladder stand. I didn't use any scent elimination sprays like I do bow hunting. I showered using scent free soaps, but that was it. I learned a couple things on that hunt. First off, use scent elimination tactics just like bow hunting. I mean I saved about 10 seconds by not spraying down. Secondly, make sure the powder doesn't get wet!! Always seem I learn the hard way.
