wtnhunt
I am still blanked on deer here this year. Seen plenty and had plenty of shot opportunities, just not gotten a good shot opportunity on the one I am after. Here is a pic of my 12 year old daughters youth hunt doe Charlie. Rifle is a browning a bolt microhunter in .243 topped with a nikon monarch 3-9X40. Ammo winchester 100 grain power points. Shot was just under 100 yards, and came on the first afternoon of the youth hunt, video link provided below for those who care to watch. Link to the video clip. PA_Spike_King
I killed this buck on the first day of PA's rifle season. (08) This gun is my offical OTPG entry 7mm Tayler&Robins. Now what is so cool about this gun is my late Grandfather gave me it and this buck is my best to date. I got to harvest my buck with my Dad not sitting to far off in the distance. Again it is a Taylor&Robbins 7mm Mag. It started out life as a 375 H&H Mag and changed over to the 7mm in 1958 I believe, I shoot 165 gr Nosler par. And it is topped off with a Bushnell Trophy 6 to 18 scope. Edited January 2, 2009 by PA_Spike_King
PA_Spike_King
Sorry for the garage pic but I shot this turkey right before dark and I forgot my camera. Now when our season started (08) we had the turkeys located and I thought this would be an easy year (BOY WAS I WRONG) my Dad and I hunted almost the whole first week and just couldn't connect. Then on the first Friday of the first week I got off of work a little early and we headed up on the ridge before dark, we were walking an old loggin road when all of a sudden I could hear turkeys down over the bank. I walked to where I could see down over and when I did the flock must have seen me as they started to get nervous and go in all different directions. I leaned up against a tree to get a steady shot and at about 75 yards this young hen steped in front of the cross hairs. The gun is a Sako in 222 Rem. It is topped off with a tasco 6 to 24 varmit scope. I used to shoot 55 gr home made hollow point bullets but turkeys would blow up with them so I now shoot 50 and 55 grn solid points buy Hornady and Sierria. All ammo I shoot other than shot gun is hand-loaded.
Shaun_300
Here's my doe from this rifle season. We were doing the last drive of the day, she came flying up a side hill right at me, stopped at 30 yards broadside and I dropped it like a ton of bricks. I was using my Browning BLR .300 WSM with 180gr Remington Premier Accutip bullets.
bluelund79
Doe taken during the holiday hunt. Shot with a Tikka T3 Hunter in 25.06, 117 gr Hornady's at 100 yds, fell where she stood. Not the biggest doe in the woods, but it put some meat in the freezer, got me a buck tag for next season, and just put a cap on a good 2008 and hopefully an even better 2009. Happy New Year to all.
