Guest bowhunter56
Re: Stolen Treestand had an api stolen 2 years ago, there are posts here every year, what kind of hunters and sportsmen out there? some are bums, and thieves, even in the woods we have thieves. Ourdoors men and sportsmen are not what they use to be, the majority are good, but any more there are a few out there, well, you know what i mean. [/ QUOTE ] Good point, another thing to look at might be the DNR themselves. My brothers turned up missing after season last year.Turned out the DNr had it, they have a rule about having all stands off the public ground within 7 days of the end of season.Any left are confiscated. They gave his back but we immeadiately assumed it had been stolen to

firefighter
Re: Stolen Treestand did you check with dnr to see if they have it, here in maryland you are not allowed to leave a tree stand on public land, if you bring it in with you, it goes out the same day .......... wtnhunt
Re: Stolen Treestand That stinks, I cannot stand a thief. A shame there are those out there who call themselves hunters who would do this type of thing to another hunter.
Guest SRA
Re: Stolen Treestand bad deal............ if you would've put it on my land (like you were supposed to ) it wouldn't have gotten stolen
Tominator
Re: Stolen Treestand Yep, it stinks alright. I've had 2 or 3 stolen from me over the years.
Guest Andrea
Re: Stolen Treestand I had my tree stand stolen a couple of years ago. Public land too. It was always covered with palmetto bushes so the idiot who took it...was looking for it. And was probably the same idiot who stole our trot lines and bush hooks!! ( same area ) There is always going to be that type of person out there. I never leave my tree stand in the woods anymore. When I die, I hope God will still let us hunt and fish and everything will go just right. Nobody stealing our stuff or shooting at us. Perfect weather and nothing but trophies. longislandhunter
Re: Stolen Treestand Sorry about your stand, I know how you feel. A couple of years ago I had someone try and steal a ladder stand that I had chained to one of my trees. They didn't manage to get the stand, but they did manage to do some considerable damage to the stand frame. The next year I had someone try and steal a hang on stand I had up, luckily that stand was chained on also, but failing to get the stand the prospective thief settled for unscrewing and stealing 15 tree steps that provided access to the stand. Hope you can recover your stand somehow.

[/ QUOTE ] johnf, do you really think that was an approiate reply to this thread? [/ QUOTE ] I agree, I'm sick of hearing this crap on here. I have had many stolen, all on public land. All had 2 chains which were locked. The DNR also have a rule when you have to have them down here. It is disappointing for sure. The people who take them are not hunters as far as I concerned. Most of mine were not even that great, many home-made. too_pointer

Guest beardsNspurs
Re: Stolen Treestand That is bad....sorry to hear it. I had a permanent stand built one time on my aunt's property for bow hunting. She had leased it out during the rifle season but she said we could bow hunt the place. I stayed off of it during the rifle season like I told her I would. When I went back in after the rifle season was over......I found that they had taken a screwdriver and torque'd the screws that were holding the platform up so hard they had broken them off . If I had stepped up onto it the stand and me would have come crashing down. The scariest part was, they only did it on one side so it stayed up there and just glancing at it it looked just like I had left it. Thats the extent that some crazies will go. I told my aunt about it...........they haven't been back since thank goodness. My aunt is this little sweet old lady and she had guys like that hunting on her property. Kinda scary if ya ask me

Guest MissouriHunter
Re: Stolen Treestand My dad's treestand got stolen this year during Missouri's gun season on our property and it was the guys who hunt on the private property next to us. It sucks. He was heartbroken because it was his API chain on. I want revenge but I don't know how to get it. What should i do?
IowaDeerHunter
Re: Stolen Treestand Had some paddlelocked to a tree and they cut that and stole, and then the other one close by was all cut down but lckily they hadnt hauled it out yet. You ask what kind of huters do we have out there? Wel if they steal other hunters stands are they really hunters themselves?
