hi, my name is eric and i live in wales maine. it is a small town just east of lewiston. lived in maine all my life and probably always will. i work as a paramedic for a large ambulance company in lewiston and also as a per-diem firefighter/paramedic for the town of oxford. when i'm not working trying to pay for oil for the furnacefrown.gif i spend most of my time with my wife and daughter who also enjoy alot of the activities i do like fly fishing, kayaking, and camping. my new passion is bowhunting and my daughter starts bow lessons in january so i'm hopeful she will take to archery like i have and become my new little hunting buddy when she comes of age. when i have the time i also like going onto the forums and watching all my hunting shows on the outdoor channel. well gotta go and pay for some more oil, lol

thanks for the welcome guys. I have been a paramedic for going on 4yrs now and in ems for 6yrs also a firefighter for 61/2 yrs. bowhunting (archery, outdoor activites) is a nice release from the ems life. love the profession but as alot of you know it is too often abused. daughter states archery lessons this wk and quite often wants to show me her form. thats my little girl excited as ever. bowhunting here in maine ended early december. our archery/expanded archery season starts in sept and runs to dec. yes the deer population was hit hard last winter. the only chance to get a doe was in 3 specific zones and permit only. the northern part of the state was bucks only and tagging was down. a deer processor i know processed about 300 deer and was down over 100. past seasons bowhunters could take either sex but this year could only take either sex in the zone that issued doe tags. the only other way you could take a doe was in the expanded zone. the state and a bow organization in maine got special permission to host a 2-wk hunt on Marsh Island in Old Town in Maine for bow hunters that were quaified to do so. they had to take a special land owners/hunters ethics class if i'm not mistaken to be able to be selected to hunt. i believe 5 does and 3 bucks were taken. rifle hunters were not too pleased that it was only for bow hunters. i look forward to conversations with a lot of you posters to the forum. have a good one.
