tedicast
Today was my last day hunting for the season. The last 3 days I've been hunting a small piece of property that I neglected all season. X-mas morning I saw 12 deer, all out of range. Yestrday I had 3 doe in range, but couldn't get drawn without getting busted. This morning, around 7:30 I have a doe come running across the lawn to my stand. I grab the bow, and hook on my release and get ready. She starts down the trail to my stand. Straight at me, no shot. She stops at about 12 yards, and is browsing. After what felt like an eternity, but was probably 2 minutes, she turns, almost straight away from me. I stand, and draw in one motion. Settle the pin at about half way back on the body, due to the hard quartering angle. I let one fly. On the shot the deer spins 180 degrees, and heads straight to me. For a second I think I missed, then I see her pumping blood. She ran about 20 yards, stood for about 30 seconds trying to keep her feet under her, all the while pumping blood out both holes, and her nose and mouth. Then it was over. I was so pumped! I can't believe the amout of blood this deer put out in a short time. The doe, ended up being a button buck. The shot was a little farther forward then I wanted, right behind the shoulder, and exited out the lower neck. He had his head down feeding on the shot. He dressed out just under 80 pounds. Great was to end a horrible 2008!!! Blood trail from the treestand...

tedicast
Congrats! He'll be good eatin' Love that bloody arrow in the quiver:D Those look like the Sonic broadheads...No? While the blade design had a slight resemblance to the Sonic, the head itself is nothing like it. In my opinion the Wasp Bass Bullet is far superior to the Sonics. 2 sonics on the left, and the Wasp on the right...

VermontHunter
Pretty or not. Blood scenes like this one makes for a good teaching tool of the equipment we use to hunt with IMO .. This scene tells me that the BH in this case did what it was designed to do and the hunter used the said equipment in a very, very proficient manner .. Crime Scene indeed John ,,, blood red on a white background can very dramatic ..
tedicast
Here is the bloodtrail in detail as posted on another forum. arrow... first blood at about 3 yards... 5 yards... 8 yards... 12 yards... 15 yards... 18 yards... 20 yards. The deer stood her pumping blood out entrance and exit, and blowing a ton of blood out of his mouth and nose. you can see the mouth/nose spray, facing the lower left of the picture... Bloodtrail from start to finish...

That would be cool to see the blood hitting the snow like that. I was about to say the same thing. That is an awesome pic. There are few things that give me a rush like a blood trail in the snow.
