slugshooter
It seems Bush has his sights set on Iran, since we have been sending our spy drones over Iran looking for "something". Dick Cheney was on Don Imus the other morning trying to dispel the rumors of the Bush Admin wanting to start a war in Iran and( I kid you not) Cheney said " we don't want a war in the middle east" ( exact words, you can't make this stuff up) Someone needs to throw ole Dicj a bone, saue we got 2 of them going on right now, and Iran is right in between both of them, they are sitting ducks in my opinion. How many of you would support sending more troops to the middle east, cause let me tell you, with troops in Iraq,Iran and Afghanistan would severely weaken mainland US, and Lord knows, George Bush has done wonders for terrorist recruiting in the last 4 years. TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Bush and Iran Well Slugo, you know my perspective on this. I think if we started anything in Iran, it would put a big damper on our military. Iran is the last thing that we need right now. Our military is thinned out as it is let alone dealing with another country. I think we need to mop up our messes and come home for a while and rebulid. Our personnel and equipment is deeply broken right now. No matter what the media says, the retention rate is down especially the senoir members of the military. There are alot of people between the 10-20 year mark that are calling it quits before hitting the big 20. With those people getting out, it is getting rid of a lot of good expeirence in the ranks. Troops are stretched out very thin and there is no relief in site. I think if we went to war with Iran right now with all this other crap going on, we would really be doomed. Norm Sauceman
Re: Bush and Iran Of course they are looking for something..But our Liberal media CAN NOT keep their mouths shut!!!! WE can not do anything secretly because there are so many reporters they seem to be the one who hands the President his toilet paper when he is done with his business... It is no wonder we have such a hard time doing any type of surveyelance.. we are looking to try and see if they are producing Nuclear materials... DANG!!!! OJR
Re: Bush and Iran Let's just keep looking with undercover spies and see where it leads us! Who knows, maybe Israel will step up to the plate! Time will tell and we don't need more blabbing by the media speculating what this or that MIGHT mean!!! markyj987
Re: Bush and Iran We've been conducting surveillance of Iran forever....so the use of drones is not surprising at all. TSBH really hit the nail on the head here. Anyone who knows anything about history knows about the great militaries in history--and what happened to them when they spread themselves too thin. It's ignorant to think that Bush Jr, Clinton, Bush Sr, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, Kennedy, etc... have not thought about going to war against Iran. They are DEFINITELY a threat. And I think they're even more of a threat than people think they are. We should avoid military force with Iran so long as there is not an iminent threat from them. We do need to rebuild our military. Afghanistan is really on the right track...and hopefully Iraq will be within the next couple of years. After that, we need to bring our men and women home for a while. We need to pull troops out of where they're not necessary---Japan, Germany, etc--and then rededicate them to where it's necessary. Most people in Iran want to be free--hopefully the actions in Iraq and Afghanistan will create a domino effect--and regimes will start to topple in the Middle East. I can't say I'm THAT optimistic--but it would be great if it did happen. If we DO decide to spread our military a little more thinly, then I think we MUST look at North Korea first. Heck, even CHINA knows that Kim Jung-Il is a psycho! They're more of a threat by far than Iran.
Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Bush and Iran I'm never for any war if its unnecessary, but when diplomacy fails and American interests are threatened at home or abroad, I'm fully supportive. President Bush has earned my respect and trust and if he decides its necessary to go into Iran, I'll support him until/unless he does something to lose my respect and trust. wtnhunt
Re: Bush and Iran Dont think he will do anything that is not absolutely needed to protect our country. Mark pretty well summed it up. Iran has been being watched for long time. I wonder if President Bush gave them an ultimatum after the world watching us go into Iraq how they would respond though? Orion_70
Re: Bush and Iran I think Israel is going to give them a pre-emptive strike and we won't have to worry about it besides backing up Israel.
