Doc
One more time, I have watched a TV show on African hunting where the hunter was carrying his gun over his shoulder, grabbing it by the barrel and pointing the muzzle right at the PH's back. Man, that drives me nuts everytime I see it. I know that Africa has its own customs, etc. but I sure wish they would take a look at their own videos some time and realize just what an unsafe way that is for carrying a gun. PotashRLS
Plus the odds of walking away from one of those "elephant guns" if they were to go off are slim to none. Good Med. attention is probably hundreds or more miles away besides. Being a Wisconsin DNR Hunter and Bowhunter Safety instructor, it is unfortunate and disturbing when you see this on TV. Kinda puts hunters in the "do as I say not as I do" stereotype. However, I almost never watch any African for exotic hunting on TV. It just doesn't trip my trigger. stevebeilgard
poor gun handling is bad wherever you are, and africa is no different. i'm sorry that they actually put that on television.
Doc
Actually, seeing that kind of sloppy gun-handling on the African hunting shows is not really all that rare. I would say that I can see it almost once every week or two on the Outdoor Channel or VS. I am amazed that no one has ever commented on it before. It is so blatant. davetucker
I was begining to think i was the only one that had caught on to it!! The other thing on them shows that i (imho) think stinks the hunter does no work except walking/driving within 150yrds of the animal someone else worked to spot and bang!! I'm cool now!! I agree i hate to watch african hunts!! Rich Yuppies!!
Doc
Yes it does seem like there are a lot of hunters content to pay someone else do 95% of the actual hunting for them. Their only part in the hunt is the target shooting at the end. I understand that it may very well be the only way some of these species may be practically and legally hunted. That is probably why I have never done the African safari thing myself. Doc
RalfZabotskowitz
One thing that always grabs me is the kill shot picture with the rifle propped up on the kill and pointed right at the happy hunter. RZ

Dawg
I've noticed that as well. Never understood why they handle their firearms that way. Accident waiting to happen. Sorry but it doesn't matter how sweet someone is, once a gun goes off that's it and whatever is in the path of the bullet will be hit....sweet as honeysuckle or as sour as a ripe lemon.
