SuperMn106
And one more than argueably the best QB of all time Dan Marino...Brett has broken almost all of Marinos records and yet many dont even consider him in the top ten QB's of all time. Funny how everyone says that "oh the reason Brett broke all those records is because he's played so long" when it took Marino 17 seasons to establish his records and Brett broke them in 16 Again one more than Marino;) Yet Brett's playoff record(12-10) is better than Marino's(8-10) Yet in his 16 seasons with the Packers they had one losing season, 7 division titles, 11 playoff appearences(their first coming in '92 after a 10 year absence), 4 NFC championship games, 2 NFC titles, 2 Super Bowl appearences, 1 Super Bowl victory, 10 Pro Bowl selections, 3 time MVP, nearly every major passing record, and oh ya 291 consecutive starts including playoffs... but ya he is definitely overrated That is the information I was trying to come up with lol. I am pretty sure this one just proved muggsys overrated thinking to be wrong. Who else has stats like that?
muggs
That is the information I was trying to come up with lol. I am pretty sure this one just proved muggsys overrated thinking to be wrong. Who else has stats like that? Like I said, when you play that long, it makes wrecking up yards, TDs, and let's not forget INTs a lot easier the more years you play. And ya boy Fav-rah is almost 40. He's a good QB, sure, and obviously he's tough and able to stay on the field...I'm not taking that away from the guy. But toughness and longevity aren't the mark of greatness. He's a fine QB, he just doesn't belong in the conversation with the all-time greats. Anyway, did I ever bring up Marino? Not sure why that is relavent to this dicussion. muggs
And just to put to rest any idea that I may be a Farve-lover, I will go to my grave saying that Reggie White was the reason the Packers won in 96. Don't get me wrong, Favre is the best ever. Holy contradiction c lou. But you do bring up a great point. Favre wasn't necessarily carrying those good Packers teams. They had Reggie White (now there is a class act), a very solid receiving corps., Ahmad Green in the prime of his career, a great coach, and a great offensive line. But, I could be mistaken, Favre could have just been carrying that team...all while riding his white horse and pulling those little children from that house fire. This is not really going anywhere, just spinning the wheels. Your point is made. But saying his name is not to be mentioned around the greats, thats absurd. He's a future first ballot entery Hall of Famer. Sure his legacy is tarnished, most Packer Fans would agree, but to go on like this is senseless. And as far as this past summer's embarrassing ending, both sides are to blame because neither was willing to eat a little crow. And for it, the Packer front office is now referred to as "The Three Stooges" in Green Bay, and Brett wishes he would have stayed retired! LOL And take any attention away from Favre? We all know he'll never allow that to happen...:D Besides, would you really want to go year to year not knowing if he is going to cancel the show or not?:D

Not sure why that is relavent to this dicussion. So Brett is almost 40 and can still play, don't hold that against him that he can play at that age. So who do you consider the best QBs of all time muggsy? So maybe toughness and longevity are not the marks of greatness, but I believe when you add a Super Bowl win and 3 MVP awards in there you can mention him. Who else has that many MVP awards? Only one, Peyton Manning (who will be among the greats). MVP awards have to account for something.
Jorden
Anyway, did I ever bring up Marino? Not sure why that is relavent to this dicussion. Because you said that Favre is not one of the all time great QB's and Marino is considered by many to be an all time great so I was just comparing a "not all time great" in Favre to an all time great in Marino. That is why its relavent.

RalfZabotskowitz
Howdy from the intermountain west. For my all world QB I'll still take John Elway. He carried a series of mediocre Dan Reeves coached teams for a long time. By the time he had a decent coach (now fired) he was past his prime and had his best seasons. At least he was smart enough to go out on top and retire after his second straight super bowl win. sory for a long winded non Favre topic. muggs
He's a future first ballot entery Hall of Famer. He's also a Pro Bowler this year...popularity and public appeal can take you places. Does he deserve the HOF? Yes, he most definitely does. Should he be named among the other great QBs and be called one of the 10 best to ever play that position, no, I don't think so. Is he top 20? Yeah, I'd say he is.

The Pro Bowl is a crock anyway and has been for a long time. I don't think he should be there this year either. Its just leverage for pay scales in my mind. They don't play hard because there is nothing on the line but a bunch of lip service. But he will be in the top 10 at that position for a long, long time. Maybe not to you or some others, but he is to many.

Give Picasso a moment while he grabs his brush.... In no particular order... Peyton Manning, John Elway, Joe Montana, Bart Starr, Fran Tarkenton (top five on my list fho sho), Otto Grahmn, Johnny Unitas, and slingin' Sammy Baugh- may he rest in peace, and to make it a nice even ten...Dan Marino (the 0 Rings hurts...hurts him big, but outside of that he was the complete package). muggs
Thats only 9 Oops. Well...then, I guess Bob Griese. I'd probably end up with Favre somewhere within the next 5 guys. He'd be there with guys like Aikman, Namath, and Moon.

Chrud
He also took the team to I believe a 13-3 record and one game before the superbowl. What happened this season in Green Bay? but I forgot that was Favre fault even though he wasnt there. Ask the defense. Here an interesting number to back up what I said earlier. 2007 Packers Points For - 435 Points Against - 291 2008 Packers Points For - 419 Points Against - 380 The 2008 Packers only scored 16 points, or one point per game, less than the 2007 team that went 13-3. However, the defense gave up 89 more points, 5.5 points per game, this year. I'm pretty sure by now you should know where the problems was with GB in 2008. It was not the QB. The defense was the issue. Rodgers did all he could. The guy looks like he's going to be a good player. Not to mention, all he had to put up with. Imagine how good he'll be going into next season with no distractions.
