Jorden
Hey guys what kind of vests do you use or what are some good ones that are out there. I've been thinking of getting one for this spring and was wondering what are some good ones.
NiteRunner
I bought a new vest last year, darn if I don't remember the brand it is. Its an actual vest, not the strap like kind. I love it! I used to have the strap like one, but I'll never go back to that kind now. Only downside was the camo pattern it came in, if ya know what I mean. Turkeygirl
I got an H.S. SUV vest like 2 years back in RT aPG...love the thing....seat can be a little hard after sitting for like 2 hours but I think that happens with alot of vests....it's a nice vest...think I paid $50 for it from Cabelas. Strut10
I've been using vests by 10X for about 20 years.
colorado bob
I had a 10X for about 15 years----finally gave out. The cloth around the snaps mostly. I bought one at Wal-mart last spring. $20 it's OK. The one thing I like about it is it's a mesh-----no trapping heat from the long hikes chasing these Colorado Merriams. bluelund79
I use a HS Strut vest in APG. Absolutely love the vest from the bird bag in the back, the gun strap that is adjustable on the shoulder and the location/set up of the pockets. The only thing that could be redisigned for better use is the seat. It is comfortable for about 2 hours, after that it leaves some to be desired as well as the triangular shape, but for movement while walking, its triangular shape is handy. Good luck in your choice, I got mine on clearance 2 years ago just after turkey season from Cabelas for under $50 shipped.
maytom
Another vote for the Mossy Oak Elite vest. Planning on getting another one before this comming spring season in their Obsession camo pattern. It has much more green in it than their Break-Up pattern. Besides comming with 20 zippered pockets!!!!

elnor
I have used a Whitewater 3D Realleaf in Realtree Hardwoods for the past three seasons. I really like the "leafiness" for breaking up my silhouette, the pockets are well positioned, and the big turkey toting pocket and stowable blaze orange flag make carrying a bird out much, much easier on the shoulders and hands. I wish it had magnetic closures, but other than that, no complaints.
Mach1
My brother and I both have vests from Whitewater. I'm not a big fan of the seat on it, so I hook a separate cushion to my belt to sit on. It does have a nice amount of pockets for my calls, extra mask & gloves, and toilet paper (for those deep woods emergencies).
woodsman2230
I had a Mossy Oak Super Elite but I gave it to my dad because he wanted to start turkey hunting and I got the Primos Gobbler vest. I love it. And it looks good too! Edited January 16, 2009 by woodsman2230 spelling

Rhino
Just my opinion but the basic style of a turkey vest is the most important thing to consider. Non-paded strap styled vest with any amount of weight in them become very uncomfortable since they tend to cut into your shoulders. A full vest style or wide padded strap disburses the weight and is wayyyy more comfortable. Outside of that you'll need to determine for yourself how much turkey hunting gear you need for your style of hunting. Along with that your preference of what type of seat pad you need for your terrain and whether or not you need a rear game bag goes into your decision too. Last year I went to no vest hunting using Ol Tom turkey hunting outfits and accessories to cut down on weight. At home my Ol Tom turkey hunting outfits will hold just about all the gear I need since they are designed with extra pockets for turkey hunters and the seat pad accessory with the magnets in it along with the magnet in the shirt back pad area are quick and easy to use when setting up and relocating for another setup. Also I have a very small, very light weight fanny pack that I wear off of my left hip on those occasions when I need more storage space for extra turkey hunting gear that I don't put in pockets.
