Nick
Re: homemade ice fishing shanty?? My grandpa made on a few years ago.....He just took 2 pieces of 3/4" particle board and shaped them to the dimensions he wanted the ice shanty. He used these two boards as the two end pieces. One of the boards he made a door in. Then he used screws and screwed a heavy duty tarp over the two end pieces. Then he cut 4 poles the length of the shanty and made slots in the 4 corners of the inside of the shanty and used them to hold the shanty together. On the particle board opposite of the piece with the door on it, he screwed some old skis onto it so it would slide on the snow and ice. If you build it good enough, the tarp should last you a few winters. The wood and poles should last you forever.
