I sent them a email that contained the following coments and quuote from their article.

Please be careful what information you give your anti-hunting compadres as it will land them in jail!

"To combat hunting in your area:

Post "No Hunting" signs on your land

Join or form a local anti-hunting organization

protest organized hunts

Play loud radios and spread deer repellent or human hair (from barber shops) near hunting areas"

Playing loud radios etc. is considered harrasment and will have them arrested. You may want to re think your current stratagies. Lol

Another nut job organization ramblings. They say animals live in fear. Fear is a cognitive expression animals are incapable of. They have survival instincts but that should not be confused with the ability to have cognitive recognition. Walt Disney sure screwed up a generation of weak minded people that think we need to defend instead of preserve a resource.

Don't blame the poster we have no evidence it is their position

I agree...the original post may have stirred up some bad feelings, but place the blame where it belongs, dont take those out on the thread starter.

Awareness should never be looked at as anything but information you didnt have before. We know the general public is being fed a steady diet of mis-truth by animal rights groups...sometimes it hurts to see the garbage thier shoveling on people who simply dont know any better!

I know this information is a few years old at this point but it helps inform some of the general public about us horrible, uncaring hunters:

We have no evidence that it isn't, either...

That is the first I saw that, Gary. That is the type of thing to be posting for the general public to see. Like I said why patronize these nut cases. Don't even give them air time. They thrive on publicity. Let's not give them any

There are two ways to react to an enemy's aggression. One is to bury our heads in the sand and pretend they are not there. The other is to educate ourselves on their tactics and activities so that we can better refute their lies when we start hearing them repeated by unsuspecting potential converts. One thing we really don't want is to BEGIN thinking about how to refute their lies only when we are suddenly blind-sided in some public conversation. People are often most impressed and persuaded by the arguments put forth by the person who appears to be the most organized and informed.

I will tell you that the old "bury your head in the sand" technique has not been working out all that well for us. There is no question that animal rights organizations have been making huge in-roads in the societal psyche and attitudes toward hunters and hunting. I think it is a good idea that we start taking these people as the serious threat that they are instead of just closing our eyes and hoping they will go away.

I don't spend a whole lot of time reviewing such anti-hunting material, but perhaps I should. I certainly do not criticize those that do. I would rather have hunters that are not afraid to look these weirdos in the eye rather than hunters who want to pretend they don't exist.

I like what Doc had to say.

One small thing I do to support hunting is to present myself as a calm animal loving person who loves and lives to hunt. I take every opportunity to educate people around me who don't "get" hunting as to why I am so passionate about it. Some still don't "get" it, but some do. Someone the other day who knows how passionate I am about hunting made the assumption I didn't like dogs because I hunted and killed deer.

I'm not sure of this, but I imagine the percentage of hunters combined with antihunters is less than half of the population which means a lot of people out there probably don't put a lot of thought into the subject.

I think it's important for hunters to know the arguments the anti's are pushing so we are better equiped to refute them. Also to present ourselves as decent citizens gaining respect and credibility. Let those PETA extremists and other anti's throw red paint on celebrities. It makes them look like idiots and they get arrested.

"The kill ratio at a couple hundred feet with a semi-automatic weapon and scope is virtually 100%"

At least they compliment our abilities :)

I really can't take articles like this seriously, and neither should any of you. No matter what someone has interest in, there are always people that sit on the other end of the spectrum. I take pride in the fact that I am very well informed and have the mental capacity to make educated decisions on my actions. [/size]

I think part of the problem isn't just the people putting out these lies, but the people towards whom it is directed. Too many of the population can't even find their city, or in some cases the state in which they live, on a map. They do not hunt, or even know about hunting.

The media is biased as to what they put out, and is usually against RESPECTABLE hunters. The only time you hear about hunters is when they do something stupid.

I view most of the animal rights groups like I do Jesse Jackson or (Rev?) Al Sharpton. They make a lot of noise without knowing/caring about the facts, but do very little otherwise to remedy the problem.

Most people don't realize that hunting/conservation groups like Ducks Unlimited do more for animal conservation, population contol, environmental preservation etc than ALL other "animal rights groups" combined.
