Missed160
Yesterday was the final day of the Minnesota pheasant season. My brother & I took a trip to western Minnesota. Because of Ice on the roads - a 2 1/2 hr drive became a 3 1/2 hr drive. The truck thermomoter said -9 when we started hunting. (plus it was real windy) The snow was thigh deep wherever there was a drift, with about a 2" crust, that when you broke through made it really hard to get back up. Bottom line - IT WAS AN AWESOME DAY! We shot 5, lost 1. The birds held really tight in the cattails. I thought we would find bunches of birds, but for the most part they were singles & small groups. I have a 9 year old springer that I am sure is going to be recovering for the next couple days. The hunting was tough - weather miserable - but it was a good way to end the season -
Ladybird
congrats on the hunt, not a bad way to end it with 5 birds,it's not easy to hunt them even with a dog,(even though it's easier with a dog). You had alot going against you.So you definitely had a awesome hunt.I remember a hunt like that and I went home empty handed.Congrats again and enjoy your pheasant.
