well the first day wasn't to good i was sick for the ride down there,, the hunting was tuff too for the first couple days b/c the land that we hunt was all flooded to we had to go knocking on doors,, and let me tell u the people in iowa are so nice,,, i got a really homey feeling when talking to all the people,, they were all super nice and almost everyone waved it was really nice,,

well it was the fourth day we were there and we were doing some scouting in the jeep that we got permission from a really nice lady,, and there was this set of really thick pines but in front of the pines there was some really tall grass,, and as we were driving buy i thought i spotted a tine,, my first thought was that it was a shed from the previous year,, but i didn't think it was actuallly anything so i didn't say anything, but then i started to think well maybe it was something and it would hurt to go look,, so i shouted stop to my uncle that was driving and told him to back up,, so he did and i asked him if he saw what i was seeing and he said he didn't see anything,, but that i should go out there and just check it out,, well i got close to it and realized that it was ivory sticking out of the grass,, i got even closer and realized that it was a buck that got hit by a car a long time ago,, but not just a small buck a main fram 10 with his left g2 broke off so he was a 9 point,, had about an 18 inch spread on him,, soi was pretty excited b/c it was a nice find

well then we hunted for a couple more days and didn't see anything,, but we had this one spot that we always hunt but we had to wait till the wind was right,, well it was the second of january and the wind was right for an afternoon hunt,, so i sat at this corner of a field,, and about 30 minutes before the sun went down here came two yearlings,, they ate a little bit and then went back in the woods,, but i knew there were more deer in the woods b/c i counted three,, well they came back out,, and kept looking back into the woods,, well 5 minutes later a good mature doe came out and started to feed,, but i noticed that one yearling was still looking back into the woods,, well it wasn't long till the buck came out i could tell he was a shooter,, so i steady my NEW TC ENDEVOR and sent a 200 grain sabot about 60 yards dead center of his front shoulder he went around 30 yards and fell over,, what an exciting hunt,, the buck ended up being a mainframe 6 point,, with a broken brow tine,, and a nice sticker at the base of his horn,, the cool thing about this buck was that he was my first iowa buck,, first buck with a muzzle loader,, and i was lucky enough to find my lead just under the skin of his opposite shoulder!!! he was also 17 inches wide,, not my biggest buck but hes going to look real nice on my wall...

and heres the coolest thing about my trip to iowa last night we went out to eat b/c it was my last day in iowa i left early this morning and we were eating and all of a sudden two guys and a girl walk in the dinner wear camo and a zip ups with the Thompson center logo on them,, my first thought was no it couldn't be but after i heard him say his name i knew it was,, ya folks thats right i ate my dinner one seat over from Gregg Ritz ,, and the other guy and his wife are also pro staffers i just can't remember his and her names!!i was pretty excited,, i almost said something to him,, and i kinda of wanted to shake there hands,, but it looked like they were visiting with some friends and i didn't want to disturb them while they were eating dinner,,, non the less this was a very cool experience and one that i will never forget,,, i will try to post the pics of my buck and the buck i found soon!!!!thanks
