nativetexan
For your viewing pleasure, here is the Fiscal Year 2009 Budget for the United States.... http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/fy2009/pdf/hist.pdf It's a glorious 342 pages of pure, unadulterated entertainment that will keep you awake for hours on the edge of your seat! All kidding aside, a lot of blame is being placed on Bush for this "debt" but I have yet to see anyone taking into account the multitude of natural disasters we have had, the "pork" projects of both parties, etc. Take a look at the "historical trends" starting on page 9 and keep going. I think if you take the time to actually sit down and skim through this document, you will have all of the answers you could ever want. My burning question is...How can anyone place a dollar amount on the safety of this nation? I don't care if it goes to $10T if it means these terrorists will be flushed from their caves out of hiding and readily "judged" via American Soldier. Before you place blame...educate yourselves on something other than CNN. We actually only know of a very small percentage of where that money is going. The Global War on Terror fund is one big pot encompassing operations overseas AND homeland security. Blaming Bush is like blaming the recent discovery of massive amounts of sea ice on global warming. Me? I blame terrorism. People just ache to point a finger when something is beyond their control. Pathetic really.
Texan_Til_I_Die
And as the FY10 budget rolls out with even more spending (although I think it will be more on domestic programs and less on defense/homeland security) we'll hear that it is either: A. Necessary and a good thing. (when talking about Obama) B. Still Bush's fault. (when talking about Bush or Republicans)
Hoyt fanatic
It's phisically sickening how many people hate Bush and blame him for everything when he's the person who kept us from getting bombed on a monthly basis. If we had'nt kept them running for the last 7 1/2 years, they would have used all their time figuring out how to bomb us again. We kept them on the run and thats how we still have a country. I'm just sad that Bush is going to have one of the worst reputations of any President in history and we can all sleep safely at night because of him. Even worse so, is how he will be less popular and more hated than Bill Clinton and all he did was give us debt and the Assault Weapons Ban. It's a wonder how Democrats minds work. How can you violate the Constitution and think it's alright because you are preventing crime? Sorry, I'm getting off subject, but you get the point. I hope that after we get bombed during the next Presidency, which we will, he gets a better reputation for the fact that he prevented such action during his two terms. stevebeilgard
look, the president always gets the blame. but it's the congress who does the budget. does anyone remember gingrich and clintons 1992 buget? the congress turned it down, clinton veto'd it, congress shoved it through. and it worked. clinton then went on to claim "his" budget worked. yea, right. history is history, though. anyway, this year's budget will be all the congress, not obama. whatever it is.
