Oh my gosh, I odn't know how much more my brain can hold. For any of you medical people or any of you period, you don't know how much stuff I have to know for my rec & eval of athletic injuries class. Next Thursday is our first oral exam where one at a time we go through history, observation, palpation, active and passive range of motiong, muscle tests, ligament tests, and neurological tests for either the foot or ankle in 8 minutes! My brain hurts from seeing all these terms like plantarflexion, dorsiflexion, posterior tibialis, anterior tibialis, flexor digitorum longus and brevis, etc....etc.... (I bet some of you don't know what I just named, lol) Do any of you have any helpful study tips for when it comes to memorizing and knowing all this stuff? I'm getting togetehr with a girl from class today to practice but man oh man my brain hurts, lol grin.gifshocked.giftongue.gif

Re: My brain.....

What always helped me was writing down the definitions, then looking them up to see if I was right. If I wasn't right, I'd study, close the book and do the whole process over again. Sometimes it took only 3 or 4 times to get it right, other times it took more, but it seemed writing down and correcting worked well for me.

You could also use a mnemonic of some sort, but that is employing rote memory and rarely works for lasting memory. A common example of a mnemonic is "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" which is a mnemonic to memorize order of operations in math.

Re: My brain.....

Best way for me to remember that stuff when I was in college was through repetition. I also tried the tape recording thing and not sure if it really helped. Remembering different actions and points of insertion and attachment to the bones for muscles was kind of tough for me, I had some flash cards from the bookstore that were pretty helpful.
