EricF
I've had my Zeiss for several months now, might as well call it a year, it's close enough. Anyway, I never noticed, don't ask me how, that it has "300 yards" on the bottom of the ocular bell (eyepiece). While parusing the website I dinstinctly remember seeing the specifications for my scope stating that it was parallax free at 100 yards. This got me to wondering...so I emailed Zeiss...within an hour or so they responded stating that the scope is parallax free at 300 yards. Of course I informed them that they may wish to change their website information. As is the case with most European scopes...parallax free is normally in the mid to upper ranges...normally 200-300 yard area as I understand it. The Conquest is assembled in the U.S. from German glass is my understanding...why it would be 300 yards is news to me. It does have the Rapid-Z 600 reticle...so maybe they went P-free at the midrange. Just a note, not that it means much, but thought I'd throw that out there. So if you're considering one and 'seeing' this advertised as 100 yards P-free...it's evidentally not. Check the bottom of the eyepiece for what range is written there. In most cases parallax is not an issue...but when it is, it's nice to know where it's at...through all magnifications. Have a good day! EKYhunter
Interesting. Zeiss makes top quality optics. I considered a Conquest a couple of years ago before going with Nikon.
doubleA
I have several 4.5x14 and 6.5x20's and they all have the side mounted parallax adjustments. Unless you are shooting precision target, small objects, distances over 300 yds etc. or varmint shooting parallax is a moot point. Most 3x9,3.5x10's are designed and used for big game and have a set parallax, where as some scopes with 12 power or more will have an adjustable parallax either side mounted or on the objective piece.
