dbHunterNY
This deer season here in NY has been over for about a month, but it's starting to hit me that it's finally over. I've been seeing less deer hunting on tv now and all the deer hunting gear is clearanced in stores. I'm tagged out, but I don't think I'm ready for it to be over. I wanted to shoot my bow and gun today, but it was just too cold and windy. I just mounted my two sets of antlers from this season though. The garage is starting to fill up slowly. - Dan

GWSmith
This deer season here in NY has been over for about a month, but it's starting to hit me that it's finally over.... Yeah...I'm still walking past all of my gear that's strategically placed in the front room. (in other words...when I put it away where it's supposed to go, I'll have to hear her spout "It sure took you long enough", and I have to admit that it's actually over)

That is a bummer for sure, but you do have to be careful these days. My stands come down if I am going to be away for any significant amount of time. My cameras are in before the season gets too involved.

That's really too bad. I have one last chance (Thursday) to get a buck. Friday is the last day of the archery season, but I have to work so Thursday is it. Pretty cool it worked out to be on my birthday. Last year I shot my biggest buck on the last day at last light. Hopefully I can have a repeat of last season. Saturday will be my last hunt of the season. It's an antlerless only weekend, but I'm excited to take my new ML in the field for the first time. I have brought down one stand I had up through the season. Most of my stands are just trees that I use my climber on with cut shooting lanes. That way I never worry about my stands and ladders being stolen.

arrow32
Season is over here and I'm on to small game. You lost alot of stuff RJF that sucks. People theses days are morons. I've never had anything stolen neither has dad but my cousin has had a couple stands stolen. There a year or two ago one of the neighbors had his ground blind all slashed up with a knife or something.
RJF
Yes it was all on private land Ive had leased and hunted since I was 16 they are family friends but we still pay to have full rights to it all. Yes I did take a big hit. Im thinking it was a coon hunter because at the place one of my cams where they shot a possum and hung it by the camara chain. Been watching ebay for camaras to buy but never see a deal

ruttinbuc
You would not think that would happen out there in the middle of Indiana, but I guess there are scum everywhere. It happens here in NJ more than a little bit. I would love to see the state DNR's get serious on these crimes and give out heavy fines for the thievery and trespassing. It runs into big money these days to have to replace stuff. Yes, the deer season is winding down. Although my season runs into the third week of February I am only going out for the enjoyment of the winter woods. Most of my hunting is from established permanent stands or hunting from the ground. Most trips turn out to be quite enjoyable.
Adjam5
My wife keeps track of the dates when the deer season is over. The very next day, she starts in about the hunting stuff all over the house:rolleyes:. We've washed our camo and put some of it away. But now shes gets to hear turkey calls...in the house as we gear up for spring gobblers:D I think turkey calls work just as good as calling in wives as they do turkeys. As soon as I start...she comes running like a big tom:p We still have small game my fellow NYers. But the brutal weather has made it very hard to get out there and hunt them yotes or bunnies. At least for me anyway.

goodnottygy
I cannot believe when someone steals stands and stuff. I had some stands stolen on 2 occasions. It really disgusts me, but you cannot watch everything 24-7. I am sure that I know who took them, but proving it would be another story. They were on private land, in which I had permission, but so did others that did not like the fact that I had permission, I guess. Anyway, they must have NO guilt. I cannot imagine going hunting and thinking .... "Oh, I think I will go hunting tonight in that stand I stole off that guy."
Flintlock1776
Season still on here until 2/21/09. I have young bucks herding up in my backyard. I did see one buck with one antler off.I'll keep at it.

I agree muzzy. Indiana season was a bad year for seeing deer. I did get a doe and a 8 point but that all took place in one week of the season. The rest I didnt see nothing and that does not usually happen. I was seeing them on trail cams just before season then nothing after that. Dakota
Yeah, deer season ended here Saturday. My pheasant and antelope seasons were great, but my deer season stunk. The only deer I shot was a doe I had to finish off for my buddy who made a TERRIBLE shot. Dakota
