dbHunterNY
Has anyone used the Primos Sonic Dome turkey mouth diaphram calls? Do they sound good, have good volume without cracking, and still can work well in close? I was thinking about getting one for this coming turkey season. Reason being that I just started using diaphram calls last spring. I figured the Sonic Dome design would help. - Dan
LifeNRA
I started using them when they first came out. I was very surprised how easy they were to use. Its all I buy, had a nice bird come into me last year using one. But had someone between me and the bird. I use the mini sonic dome calls, I like the smaller frames. Guest TennesseeTurkey
I live on diaphrams I actually carry a slate but I never used it once in the last 2 years my money call is a H.S. strut Double D. I used some Primos last year (not the dome ones) they sounded pretty good.
Jorden
I bought one last year and loved it, never will buy anything else. I was also very surprised how easy it was to use. I have one domed one and one regular one and now I have a hard time using my regular one...So yes I would reccommend them.
dbHunterNY
Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm thinking I'll have to pick one or a few of them up then maybe kill myself a thunder chicken with it. - Dan
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
I bought a call "pack" last year think, or the year before, i forget. It was a primos pack, and had 3 calls anda CD. One of the calls was a Sonic dome. I really like the way it fits, and plan on picking up a couple more. It isn't the sonic dome mini, but it still fits OK, I think I am going to a least try one though, seems like it fit a bit better.
Bowtech_archer07
I disliked the Sonic Dome very much. I hated the way it felt in my mouth and just never could comfortable with it. I use the Primos A-Frame calls. They have a smaller frame and I think they are much easier to call with and they fit in my mouth a lot better and I am able to call much better. They might fit better. Which is why I use them. I don't even have to cut the tape anymore! Is it not made for beginners? Regardless what the call is, if it works and you kill a bird, does it matter? The calls sound great, and yes I guess it helps the beginner with the dome. The dome helps with placement inside your mouth. Either way, they like any other mouth call, they work fine. dbHunterNY
I went to Dick's Sporting Goods and it looks like I'm going to have to wait a couple weeks before they get some in the store for spring. Thanks to everyone for the input. Good luck this spring, Dan
arrow32
I'm going to have to give these a try. I saw them there last year but didn't buy any of them. I have some other primos calls and some quacker boy.
bluelund79
Used it and liked it. One hint though, don't put them in a call wallet in your back pocket like my buddy did, he found out the hard way that they can be fragile if sat on... Dakota
I use a slate, box, gobbler shaker and three mouth calls. I have two of the Sonic Domes and a Quaker Boy Screamin' Green. I like all three, because I can get different types of sound variations from all three. Though I must admit that the Primos calls are definitely easier to use. redkneck
I've tried several of the dome callers and havent liked any of them. Not the way it felt, but the tones were'nt right. Everyone's mouth has a different shape, so one that i can get down and raspy with may sound like crap when you blow it. But that's the beauty of diaphrams, they're so cheap, just keep buying and blowing till you get what you like, unlike slates and boxes.
