flash cards in the leaf river?

Anyone have any troubles with reformatting cf cards on their leaf river cams?

Had a problem this last time with the card. I saved my pics to a cd and renamed the file when I did so it would not over write the exisiting pics on the cd with the same names that I had stored previously. Guess I accidentally renamed the file on the flash card too at the same time. After taking that card back out to the cam I reformatted it to clear out those old pics, or so I thought I did, the display said "no images exist".

When I checked the cam today the display said there was 18 pics, but the flash card had no new pics stored and when I brought it back it still had the old pics from the previous time I checked it. Tried reformatting the card with the camera, but it kept saying "no images exist" It still would not write new pics when I set off the cam manually. Had to bring the card back to the house and delete the file with the pics on it that had been renamed and then take it back out and reformat it.

Guess the leaf river camera will not overwrite or format over a file that has been created on another camera or device or modified?

Re: flash cards in the leaf river?

Can you say that in English grin.gif

William--all I do is save the pics to the computer from the Flash Card--then just delete the pictures on the flash card and put back in the LR camera. Before I had a flash card i just took the one out of our Nikon Digital and it worked fine---didn't have to reformat it at all.

Somebody made a post several months ago about reformatting--can't remember who it was???

You might check the internal memory in the actual camera and see if the pics from the last 18 taken are there since it didn't recognize the card.

Re: flash cards in the leaf river?

Nope Todd, I turned the unit off and pulled the card and checked the viewing screen to see if there were any pics in the internal memory, and there were not any there.

Instead of cluttering up my hard drive on the computer, I have been just copying from the card straight to a cd rw and then I upload, edit, or delete from there.

Mike, I had sent LR an email right after I got the cam with a question and they never answered me confused.giffrown.gif.

Re: flash cards in the leaf river?

Thanks Todd. Hopefully it is working right now. Not sure why it would not format the card before when I tried it before I brought it back and deleted the file. Will check it again probably on Saturday, if it is not right, I will give them a call.
