redkneck
If you're just a casual varmint hunter, try a mouth call. Lots of people have called in animals with them, and i have a couple in my bag i keep just in case the situation calls for it. Me and daddy were turkey hunting years ago when a pack started howling and the birds shut up. He took his mouth call and stuck it way back in his mouth and let loose like a rabbit. Five minutes later one dog was on the ground and another had a load of 4 shot in his butt.
doubleA
I have had a FX3 for several years now and it works great other than keeping the batteries charged up. By today's newer models it's getting to be obsolete with only being able to store 30 sounds. But I havent found that to be a problem as I store them on a laptop and can load the FX3 with differnt sounds quickly. With the newer models such as the FX5 and Scorpion the prices have dropped somewhat on the 3's, they are around $400 these days. FoxPro are great callers and their CS is top notch also. brudaman340
im also wondering if its worth it to buy sounds from foxpro? I have a ipod and could put the sounds on the ipod and play it through a speaker but the sounds seem expensive too though. A mouth call would be a good idea except for my lack of expierience. Distress calls work, but i want to call using coyote sounds i have read that its a better way to call. So, i believe through expierience of hearing them calling back and listening to the calls i will one day be able to mouth call when i know what i should be doing. It is worth buying the sounds from FOXPRO if you have a FOXPRO caller. If you buy a predator calling CD, you only get 4 calls for about $20. When you buy the calls from FOXPRO you get 16 sounds for $25. But the calls from FOXPRO can only be played on a FOXPRO caller. The calls are recorded in the .FXP format, which is FOXPROs own format. The sounds can not be converted to MP3 to use them on your Ipod unless they are played thru the FOXPRO caller and recorded in the MP3 format, but you will lose sound quality that way. Adjam5
We have the 416B Foxpro and have nothing but compliments on it. We haven't really used it on yotes. All the yotes we shot were while we were deer hunting. For crows...it can really bring 'em in. The remote works up to great distances, it says 700 yards, but we never used it that far. It is a older model and the sound does not get out there like the newer models. The newer ones have speakers on both sides. Mike Dillon, the owner of FoxPro is top notch and so is the customer service. My son told me you can download sounds from your PC to the unit, but I think that is for the newer models. They are made in PA by Americans;). The Jack in the box is something that you would want. Not only will you have an audio for the predators, you will give them a visual that is controlled by the same remote.
brudaman340
i bought the jack in the box! it was kinda funny i got it real cheap because it was a floor model then the guy at gander mountain broke the set screw that holds the rod on so now i just cant take the rod out not that it matters. i have used it and it works good. Adjam5
Cool congrats on the JIB. I think I paid $99 for our JIB direct from FoxPro. Call Mike Dillon(owner) at FoxPro. Tell him about the broken screw. They just might send it to you;). He is a VERY personable guy and stands behind his products. My son and I will be giving our FoxPro a workout and the crows on our land in Sullivan county, a run for their lives tomorrow:D You live close by...maybe we can get together and hunt sometime?
