woodshed
what is the difference in a rimfire scope for a .22 rather than a regular scope?
Shaun_300
With a rimfire scope there's no rings or bases, there's two clamps on the bottom of the scope that clamp around the two grooves above the receiver on the gun.
woodshed
what is that purpose for? Can you put either on a Ruger 10/22? Is one better than the other? thanks
doubleA
Woodshed, I hope this answers your question....... In most cases the parallax is set at 75 yards for a 22 rf scope while other scopes intended for centerfires are set around 100-150 yards. They can be had in common models such as a fixed 4x or another popular one is a 2-7X variable. You see alot of "tactical" type rimfire scopes around these days too, what sets them apart is the parallax and their ability to focus down to feet rather than yards. As far as mounting the scope, current Ruger 10/22's come with a base that can either use the 3/8 inch dovetail rings or the weaver style rings. .22 scopes can come with either style and many do not come with any in which this case you have to purchase them seperately, I would opt for the "weaver" type myself.
