texastrophies
I see where Michael Crabtree, Texas Tech's wide receiver, has chosen to forego his last 2 years of college ball, and join the draft. It is a foregone conclusion that Detroit will pick him, I believe that is a requirement for the Lions to choose the best receiver in the draft every year, isn't it?:D:D
muggs
If Millen was still there...you know he'd be REALLY tempted.
craig mack
Hey, the Loins only had to pick about 3 or 4 receivers before they got it right. The sad thing is that they're in need of another receiver.

DeSean Jackson and Eddie Royal are two that come to mind from the last draft class. Somebody should have told Millen that.

They have alot of quality picks this year, I just wish that I had faith in them to make the right choices. I'm sure that they will screw it up somehow. Picking quality players in the late rounds has never been a strong suit of the Loins. Heck, they cant even pick quality first and second rounders (few exceptions). dogdoc
aren't they in need of a QB? I thought they'd probably pick a QB but if history repeats itself then it will be a WR. I feel sorry for the poor soul who has to go to that organization--however the checks still cash the same.
c_lou
The need help on both lines. If they are smart they take the OT from Alabama and find the best D-lineman with thier pick from the Cowgirls.

muggs
They still need a QB though. And the FA market is lean this year. Cassell was franchised, Warner will probably get a deal from the Cards considering what he's done this year...same goes for Kerry Collins...outside of those three, you're looking at guys like Kyle Boller, Pat Ramsey, Charlie Batch...nothing good. That's true but for this year, they get some line help and then get Kitna back, they could take a QB in the later rounds. Or how about giving Stanton a shot. texastrophies
There is another solution. Fight through next year with what they got, get a couple of WR and maybe a lineman this year in the draft. Then next year pick up the best WR, again and then get TEBOW and go to the superbowl. :D:D

What he said. The d-line is a place where I think they can get better through a second or third round pick or FA. I'd take Smith from bama first, and IF Bradford, and Sanchez enter the draft, I am thinking it'll shake things up enough to where one of them will drop far enough for the Lions to take them. QB and O-line are the two positions they desperately need. If neither leave early, their best option for a good draft would be to take Stafford number one, then either Oher from Mississippi, or Okung(sp?) from Ok. State, both should be available at #20. That would still fill a couple HUGE holes for them. Their next priority should be a defensive back. There is no way he makes it in the NFL. Mark it down.

Mark it down. I think Millen took care of that already. Stafford should be a decent QB, strong arm, size, and faced a heck of a lot better defenses in the SEC than Bradford did in the big 12. NFL scouts/teams seem to think he has everything a typical NFL QB should have. Of course we can't predict the future, so I'm to going to sit here and guarantee a great career for him. But taking him is far better than what they are working with right now.

Strong arm but can't hit the broad side of an Aircraft carrier. Not to mention I don't think he can read a defense like Bradford can. It's the smart QB's that can figure out the new complex NFL defenses that make it. But being Detroit, I can see them giving NE the 1 & 20 for Cassel. Then give him a 6 year $67 million and then he falls off a horse and blows out his knee.

MCH
I'm not a huge OU fan, but Bradford seems to be the real deal. I wouldn't draft him expecting him to be your starter next year, but out of all the QB's in this year's draft, I see him having the best career. One of the most accurate throwers I've ever seen. c_lou
Coming from the guy who thought JaMarcus Russell was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Coming back from the guy who said drafting an LT sets your franchise back 5 years. That is sort of my point. Was I wrong? Yes. So when there is a big, strong armed, QB who plays against all the great SEC defenses, of course he is the next best thing. I just don't think he makes an impact at the next level. I see him floating around ala David Carr. Yet another big, strong armed QB. Give me Drew Brees or Matt Ryan. They have the smarts to read defenses and take what they are given. craig mack
Bradford is staying in school!!! I guess he just couldnt take the chance of getting drafted by Detroit. I dont think any of the QB's in the draft are worthy of a #1 pick. The Loins need to start in the trenches and work there way out.

whitetailtrax
This afternoon I will be meeting with a current member of the Detroit Lions - he has graciously agreed to meet my kids and sign some autographs and such while he's in town. Will be a cool experience for them! Not every day that kids from Montana get to meet professional football players.
