Turkeygirl
So today in the mail is a bill thing from a credit collector/credit debt, whatever you call it for a bill relating to the ER physician from when I sprained my ankle during camp and had to go to the ER. when that happened, the Director handled it, I had to call worker's comp, director sent in the paperwork and the bills I received to the NY state Dept. of Environmental Conservation. Well I didn't receive any more bills or anything since September, figured it was all taken care of. Apparently not after what I got in the mail today! so I called the DEC and left a message on their machine, called this debt collector agency place and told them what the deal was, the lady on the phone says "We;; they missed a bill" and "Let us know when you hear from then". Pretty much useless person. What happens to me? I don't have a credit card or anything but is this going to affect me badly? It's horrible because it's the Dept. of Env. Conservation aka the STATE that screwed up, not me!!!!!!:( I probably won't hear from the DEC until tomorrow, and I'll call them again if they don't call in the morning. I figure I'll have to send them this bill and they'd better deal with it this time! I'm upset/confused/lost as to what to do or say.... buckee
You're not going to change anything by worrying your head off over it Ruth. Just take it one step at a time, and I'm sure it will all work out in the end. Don't cross your bridges before you get to them dear.

Adjam5
Ruth...this happens often. Just usually a matter of screw ups somewhere. Be persistent and get names of everyone you speak to. If you still feel uneasy, there is always a credit check after the fact to see if it shows up on your credit report. Don't sweat it.
Turkeygirl
Thanks guys. I called a girl who works with the DEC for the camps and told her and she told me it's something the Dr's office does and that it takes awhile for stuff like this to get paid. She said she'd talk to some people and to call her back in the morning, so I'll give her a call back and see what happens.
stevebeilgard
it will all smooth over, ruth. just a mistake somewhere. but keep looking at your credit score. you don't want this to affect your credit.
Turkeygirl
Well I called back the girl today and the lady who deals with this stuff is out of the office until tuesday so I'll have to call that lady then. She said though don't worry about it too much, it shouldn't affect my credit, and alot of times they do this stuff just to scare you in this case. She said don't bother calling the debt collector agency people because they wouldn't be able to do anything. So hopefully Tuesday I can get this all settled.
