My car

you may have a golden opportunity here. there are brand new cars for sale, some under 10,000 dollars. zero percent financing for 5 years, meaning a 200. per month payment. and, they are very fuel efficient and have 100,000 mile warranties. car sales suck, and they will give you a good trade in. maybe check some of them out. or check out all the deals. the payments may be lower than the repair bills each month, and add fuel savings.... hmmm. something to think about.

Steve is right Cody, it should be a buyers market right now, and with new models coming in the new last years models sitting on the lot have to go.

We bought our Durango this time of the year last year and worked the dealership down quite a bit even though what we wanted was not on their lot, got 0 % financing too.

LOL...I can feel the hurt in my wallet too:(

I bought my 99 Blazer used back in 2004 and paid for it in full with cash.

Since then I had no problems at all with it until the fall of last year. Then it seemed there was a shrill vacuam like sound coming from.....my Wallet:eek::D

Since last Fall:

Windshield

Battery

Shocks(all around)

Brakes and Rotors(all around)

Rear End Bearings

Muffler

Catylitic Converter

Heater Core(that required the entire dashboard to be removed to replace it)

Feul Sending Unit(which required another trip back to the repair shop after picking it up and heading to the gas station to fill it up...and finding it leaking all over the ground)

I'm fairly sure that I've forgotten a few items.

If I average the costs of the repairs out over the time I've had the vehicle it's still much less than being strapped down to payments;)...and now the only thing left that's OEM is the paint:D

Sounds like my 98 S10. Had it for several years now and all was fine up until the past year. Most recent repair was master/slave clutch cylinder and clutch for $630.. and there's a bunch more before that...

I will never own another ford after my experience....Bought a 2006 ford ranger regular cab xl model, came with a 3 year 36,000 mile warrenty (thank goodness) Within 5,000 miles, had to get the rotors replaced, new oxygen sensor #2. at 10,000miles had to have a tie rod end replaced. The next 20,000 miles were pretty uneventful, until this summer...My tires were approaching the point of needing to get replaced due to our wonderful curvy West Virginia roads, but that is not the problem, the truck had a bad vibration....universial joint gone, still vibrates, just not as bad, replaced driveshaft, still vibrates, another set of rotors, still vibrates, new tires, still vibrates, rebalanced tires, still vibrates, new rims, still vibrates.... all the vibration stuff was within a course of 4 weeks. Now the truck is out of warrenty, still waiting to see if ford will extend my warrenty. I WILL be buying a Toyota next...heck they are pretty much 100% made in the USA now...the engine and transmissions are made not too far from where I live. Rant...off.

Why didn't you try to do lemon law on your Ford?

I have an '07 Tacoma with 12,000 miles on it.... and while it's a good running/driving truck.... the rear window has leaked on it every time it rained last year. I took it back to the dealership many times and I would always get a different story. Yes it's leaking, we fixed it, yes we fixed it again, we can't find a leak...... blah blah blah. I got a lawyer and had him threaten the lemon law on them and they "fixed it" one more time. If the truck leaks again before November of this year, the lemon law will go through on it. SO, not sure if you're better off going this route either.

Cody - Sorry for hijacking your thread. ;) Are you talking about the Neon? or is this a different vehicle? Perhaps you should seriously talk it over with your parents and think about what Steve said. If you could afford it, then go for it, IMO.
