Master_Chief
What are they thinking? I thought for sure he was safe.
VABuckSlayer
That's a shocker to me too.
unioncountyslayer
They're thinking they haven't won a playoff game since they won the Super Bowl. But that's just me. He won't be out of coaching long though. He's a good coach, but if you don't win in the postseason, it catches up to you.

Master_Chief
and some people say the team he won the superbowl with was tony dungys team And to that I would say, then why didn't Tony Dungy win a superbowl with that team? Sometimes that line doesn't fly.
muggs
MC, even Gruden himself credited Dungy for putting that team together. After that SB win, he has had a losing record. Plus, the guy always has at least 4 washed up QBs on his roster and he can never seem to pick which one is his starter for more than two weeks. He's a strong personality, so maybe that's why people like to think he's a good coach...but I'm not so sure. The proof is not there. FYI- since that SB win, he's gone 45-55....including this past season's monumental collapse which ended with a loss to the Raiders keeping him out of the playoffs. wtnhunt
Gruden is a good coach, however I think Tony Dungy set up the team that Gruden won with in Tampa Bay, really do not see how anyone can deny that. Tony Dungy in my opinion is a better coach than Gruden(comparing records that seems a no brainer), I would say Dungy is a great coach and a class act all the way. No doubt Gruden will have other offers.
Heavy Metal
And to that I would say, then why didn't Tony Dungy win a superbowl with that team? Sometimes that line doesn't fly.LOL, well, we'll never know. But that was Dungy's team down to every X and O. AND....Gruden playing his former team from less than year prior?! Not sure of a coach that wouldn't have won that one.;)....wait...Andy Ried would have found a way to lose it, nevermind! You have to say those were unreal and extremely favorable circumstances. And he's done nothing but run that team out of the playoffs ever since.
