mrswtnhunt
Don't tempt me! LOL Someday I'd like to see Alaska, I just don't know if i can bring myself to get on a plane. I'm a bit chicken of flying. I just hope the ones that can swing it take lots of pics for me. I have never flown either and now I'm gonna get on a plane for more than 10 hours. I'll admit I am real nervous and anxious but I'm gonna do it:rolleyes:. This is gonna be the trip of a lifetime for me, and I'm gonna share it with my oldest daughter:D. She is nervous too because she hasn't ever flown either. We will be taking tons of pics for everyone. Just wish you could go.

BRHNTR
RT Alaska Hunt Boy o Boy did I miss out on this one! I have been to Alaska 4 times from Barrow to Seward, fishing all over. If I had know about this gathering sooner I would of been there. Instead this summer I'm booked for a remote fishing trip on the Nushagak river in southwest Alaska the begining of July for king salmon. I was booked to do a Dall Sheep hunt in the Kenai Mountains but it was just busting the bank with work being slow and the economy tanking more and more everyday as everyone knows, I switched it to the fishing trip. If anyone is on the fence about going on this group hunt, get off and go!!! Once you have visited Alaska for the first time you will not be able to stay away! BELIEVE ME! stevebeilgard
Get on that plane Randy ,, this is one trip you don't want to miss because of a little fear of flying .. THIS from a white nuckle passenger going over simple mountain roads? two hands indenting my dash? tears wetting the seat below you?? (it was tears, wasn't it?) :D randy, go for it. flying is great, the safest travel available. or, maybe bum a ride with randy o. he's driving. i'ts a great 4-5 day ride up there. or, drive to seattle and take the state ferry, vehicle and all, up to whittier. stevebeilgard
tip for this hunt anyone thinking of going on this moose/bear hunt to seward REALLY needs to invest 30 bucks in a book called THE MILEPOST. whether driving, flying, or taking the inside passage ferry, it has literally all the information you may need or want for this trip. even for those not going, it's a great book to read. planning a trip is 1/2 the fun, and this is the book you want. do it, and you won't be disappointed. for those driving, consider the inside passage state ferry system for at least one way of your trip. i plan to drive up in august and take the ferry back myself, if i can work the days out. all along i thought the hunt was august 9, not august 20. not sure why:o i thought that, but i did. VermontHunter
THIS from a white nuckle passenger going over simple mountain roads? two hands indenting my dash? tears wetting the seat below you?? (it was tears, wasn't it?) :D Listen folks picture this scenario ... You're in a super cab truck loaded with gear and tagging along in the rear is a U-Haul trailer again loaded to the brim with camp gear ,, heading up a goat path covered in snow of a mountain road, barely wide enough to keep all for wheels on. To the right of me is nothing ,,, ( when I say nothing this is what I mean NOTHING but a free fall for about what looks like eternity to me .. ) Here's the good part ... this driver ( SteveB.) gets us to the very top of the mountain only to find that the freakin' pass has been snowed in .. He now has to turn this truck around along with the U-Haul on this goat path with a few 1000 feet of free fall to one side .. Needless to say I was not feeling so well at this point .. :o and I'm not ashamed to admit it either .. :o So yeah Randy, flying is way safer than riding in the Rockies with SteveB .. And Steve, THANKS for being a friend buddy .. :p:rolleyes:

I have to admit, you do know how to handle a mountain .. I forgot how high that pass was ,, you want to refresh my terrified mind as to just how high up we were ?? .. stevebeilgard
almost 11,000 feet. but that's no big thing. anything over 30 feet will kill you. just don't fall..... at least it works for me. lol

Now I'm scared again ..

WHISKEYSWAMP
Here's a moose story for all going on this moose hunt: Seamus and Jimmy, two Newfoundlanders, got a pilot to fly them in to Labrador to hunt moose. They had great luck, and managed to bag six. As they were loading the plane to return, the pilot said the plane could take only four moose. The two lads objected strongly. "Last year we shot six. The pilot let us take them all and he had the same plane as yours." Reluctantly, the pilot gave in and all six moose were loaded. However, even on full power, the little plane couldn't handle the load and went down. Somehow, surrounded by the moose bodies, Seamus and Jimmy survived the crash. After climbing out of the wreckage, Seamus asked Jimmy, "Any idea where we are?" Jimmy replied, "I think we're pretty close to where we crashed last year
