CB Radios.......

I was just curious as to who all had CB radios , or who used them and for what purpose. My dad and I use ours for travel information from other drivers while driving long distances. Truck drivers are great free info on weather, hy-pos, and other road stuff. I also use mine while hunting with friends and my radio is good enough to reach the check station so I can see how things are going. So how about any of you????

Re: CB Radios.......

Used to have one set up in my truck when I was driving back and forth to Stillwater. Eight foot whip antenna, 250 watt linear, and a Cobra station. It could reach upwards of 30 miles. A couple of my friends have home stations and most of em still have mobiles. Mine's always sitting here in case I need it.

Pretorian......just thought I'd give you the heads up.....saying "good buddy" over the radio has come to be considered slang for "I'm homosexual". Thought you'd like the tip...... grin.gif

Re: CB Radios.......

YB15, I'm not stretching it. You rarely hear a "true" trucker say "good buddy". At least not to each other. Now you might hear a bunch of amateurs hollering it out on the radio, but according to the truckers I know, they refrain from using it. And I know quite a few....you could say it runs in my family.

Re: CB Radios.......

Got one in both my Cherokee and the Mrs.' Gr. Cherokee..........makes long road-trips more entertaining and we also use 'em when we're hunting different locations. Some of the places we used to get in to in W. Virginia...........you want to have some means of communicating with civilization!!!!!!!!

That's true.

You could say I'd be lost without mine, it's just part of the job. Real-time weather and traffic. And, you get to hear people pick fights they never intend to see through. Can't beat a CB.
