Doc
The shotgun is probably my most prolific, effective, squirrel meat gathering weapon. However, Lately, I have been trying to put a bit of sport into it, so I have a .22 hornet sighted and ready. Spitting out bird-shot also takes away from some of the enjoyment of the meal, not to mention the gobs of squirrel hair that gets pushed into the meat by the pellets. Some nice head-shot squirrel meat is a happy change in diet. Doc
Rem308
I have, and as a boy that's all I carried. Lately, I've been concentrating on the hunt more w/ the .22 handgun and rifles, and making those head shots is a lot of fun.
arrow32
I use my shotguns from time to time on them but also use my .22 rifle making some head shots.

birdhunter39
410 or 16 ga .
PotashRLS
22 LR or 22 Mag. Shotguns sometimes ruin too much meat.
okiedog
Sometimes. I do sometimes as well, depends on the situation. If I take my 4 year old son out in the woods, I will usually take a 410 with us. Not that I'am a bad shot with a 22, but the odds of a harvest are much greater for me. So the trip is more exciting for my son as well:)

Doc
Man you mean business dont you never heard of any one hunting them with a hornet bet that gets expensive ive got one and know how much the shells are It's a lot cheaper than using the shotgun. Plus, I load my own which cuts down some on costs. Also to put it in a little better perspective, it's no more expensive to shoot squirrels than it is to shoot paper (which I do also). In fact it is cheaper because I don't take as many shots when I'm squirrel hunting as I do during a couple hours of bench-shooting. Jeramie
Yep... Sure do. My tree rat tools are.... .17HMR .22LR 20ga 12ga If im hunting solo I pack a solid projectile. If im hunting with Dad or others I pack the shotgun.

Dakota
That's all I use since I don't have a .22 or .17 HMR. I usually just use my 20 ga. NEF single-shot with #4 or #6 lead. Dakota
Shaun_300
Usually whatever gun I can get my hands on quick enough! They're real pests at my grandma's so if I see one in the yard it's a B-line to my room to grab the first gun I see! :D Usually either my .22LR, 20ga or 28ga.
