I have the same gun. Shoots very well topped with a Weaver Grand Slam 2.5 x 10 x 40. My buddy and I are working up a load for it right now. I want to shoot Hornady 190gr. interlocks out of it. The gun carries well being a short action. It does pack a bit of a wollup at the range being in a lighter gun, but I like it a lot. Seems though that you don't quite get the published ballistics out of it because of the 22" barrel.

As far as cons go I think most will tell you you can get the .300 Win Mag Ammo a lot easier and it is time tested.

I think $550 is a very good price. I paid more than that in 2002 for mine.

That sounds like a really good deal Scott! I have a .300 WSM in a Browning BLR, great caliber! Ammo is pretty easy to find even around here, so I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem down where you are. It is a touch more expensive than .300 Win Mag ammo, but it's not outragous. I spend between $26.99 and $45.00 per box depending what I get.

I own a custom 300 win mag (Krieger barrel and Weatherby Mark5 Action and a Browning in 300 WSM. My 300 Win Mag is a bit faster and more accurate (but, I paid for that) and the 300 WSM is a dream to shoot. From a ballistic standpoint, they are awfully close. I think you made a good choice at a good price. I like hand loading the Win mag better (easier and I have a lot more components) but, I have to say that the short fat case is hear to stay.
