Guest RandyO.SR.
Has anyone been watching the news with our President Elect doing community service today? They show him painting while wearing a white shirt and dress pants! I wonder if anyone has thought about how many secret service, police and how many camera crews are involved in all of this. So far, all I can see is that it is going to cost more to protect this President than all of the money spent on the Iraq war. They could have probably hired the best paint crew and painted the whole White House for less cost! When he was campaigning, he came to our area during the flood and filled about 5 sandbags.I figure that it cost about $100,000 per bag just for security. The way the media told it, those 5 bags is probably what saved the levee from breaking! Let's see what the Messiah does next!! Steve B. you can take it from Here! ruttinbuc
Hey RandyO.SR., Good to see you ...Welcome to the forums.... I saw that little photo op of him painting the homeless shelter wall. The message he suggests is to give service to your community. (ask not what your country can do for you, has been done, say?) Yep, tax my unemployment check while I go find a homeless shelter to paint....

wtnhunt
Welcome to the forums. Nice first post Randy Sr, yes I do think you are right that he is going to cost the taxpayers more than any other president with secret service detail. I watched a little of fox news today, and got so tired of hearing Obama this and that I had to turn it to cartoons for our 3 year old to watch. stevebeilgard
i saw that, randy. it's the same as a bunch of 1/2 million dollar a year folks grabbing a shovel to dig the foundation of a new project. showmanship only. this is his party time, and i wish him well. in only 2 days, it's down & dirty with business. i want him to succeed, get the economy going, and keep us safe. i'll applaud him all the way. that said, i'm less than optimistic, as some may have noticed. but i'll applaud his good deeds and sneer his bad deeds as he does them, and as i see them, and not before. I have to laugh, my boss calls him "Dumb Dumb":D Anyway, if he had any brains at all, his community service should have been to donate all the money it cost for him to be there and the protection he got while there. At least they would have been able to finish the project and had money left over. Thats how it goes though, spent a hundred $ to save one $. We're screwed:(
OJR
As long as the media keeps these "phote ops" going, he isn't going to change and neither is the media! Let's face folks we are stuck with what we have and we, the taxpayer is going to pay out the nose!
Guest Countryblk
Paint it black? How dare you! Snide comments like that are the exact reason why the rest of the rest of the country and world sees US as egotistical, ethnocentric, and uneducated. Fortunately, this is the information age and information is out there for those who not only claim to "believe in God", but also follow the tenets of the religion upon which the subscribe. The world is watching not only the new President, but ALL Americans. Sir, I respectfully beg of you, don't continue the rhetoric and behaviors that have divided the country for so long. I love hunting, the outdoors in general, and most American citizens ( no matter the race, creed, or ethnicity because the good book says to do so. Let us be civilized in our debates and not divisive. God Bless you and America too!

Great thing about this country is that not everyone has to agree, and comments such as those above are allowed to be seen as what they were, a joke. Notice the LOL. You posted your thoughts as well, and anyone here is welcomed to post so long as they do not attack any other members or engage in bashing or posting inappropriately. Texan_Til_I_Die
Paint it black? How dare you! Snide comments like that are the exact reason why the rest of the rest of the country and world sees US as egotistical, ethnocentric, and uneducated...The very first reference I saw to "painting the Whitehouse black" was by a liberal, and I assume Democrat, cartoonist immediately after the election. Where was the outrage then? As to the "rest of the world" viewing the U.S. as ethnocentric, let me ask you this. When have you seen a person of African, Middle Eastern, or Asian descent hold the highest elected office in England, France, Germany or any other European nation? The answer is never. And when WILL you see that happen? The answer is not in your lifetime. These so called educated countries of the Old World are very keen to point out perceived racism in American society, but when it comes to actually practicing racial/color blindness, they are still decades behind us. Because believe it or not, it wasn't the black vote that elected Barack Obama, it was the white vote. And I think that fact is quite indicative of the current state of race relations in this country. BTW - I appreciate your thoughtful comments on the subject.

stevebeilgard
you're correct, tex. america, the youngest of the white nations, is the first to even have a black run for president, much less elect one. the rest of the world should look on america with envy. they do, of course, as evidenced by our immigration status. but they won't say so in words.
