sureshot
yesterday I decided to go do some calling,no such luck, with all the snow the snowmobilers are all over and the critters are runnign for miles when they hear any sound,I decided to head a bit farther south to the bush to look for deer to see were hearded up for sheds this spring, I found four nice mulie sheds right off the road,I decided to try one more calling placeby a guys yard,as I was driving in I seen movement near the dirch, A CAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! first one I have seen in nearly 20 years and at 1 in the atfernoon, I got out and he ran in the bush, I waited fro him to come out and the farthest shot would be 100 yards nothing, I started to scan the bush and I could see his shape in the thick underbush, we had a 10 minute waiting game,he finally moved into thinner stuff, I had to shoot threough a bit of small twigs but had no other chance, I settled the crosshairs right behind the shoulders at abou 70 yards, at the shot he jumped about 6 ft strait up,I coudl see the blood trail were he ran, never exiting the bush, I sat back and calmed my heart that was pumping about 300 beats per minute for about 10 minutes then went in after him, as I walked the far side I seen him walking out the side I just came back, I ran as hard as I could with a super sore back and 2-3 ft of soft snow, when I came around he was gone, the blood trail led to a culvert under the road, I got my shovel and started to dig, when I got down I seen him laying down and he started to walk to the other side,I could not aim the gun with all the snow so I just shot and he dropped,I came around the far side and seen he was still in about 10 ft, I tried to crawl in but I could not with my sore back, my arms would not go over my head to get in, I went to 3 farms to get barb wire and no one had any, finally a guy who I hunt on all the tim e went to a old fence and cut me 20 ft or so off, I was so happy, its now nearly 5 by the time I get back, I got there and looked in no cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I* got my flashli8ght and seeing it was getting dark could not see him, I tried the barb wire with no luck, on the way home I called a couple buddies and the one guy is smaller and saifd he will come out to crawl in but was on call for work and could not till today, I went to work today just sick, thinking coyotes will get him, at 330 he was off and got 2 1 by 4 bourds and cut them in 1/2 and put a t on one end to push out the far end, got his cordless drill to keep adding the 12 ft pieces together as we needed them, by 430 I was off and we went down, after we masde the 50 miles in about 35 minutes I was gettign the bourds together and he went down and said I see him just a minute, I managed to get down and he was in the culvert dragging my cat out allready!!its a big male, perfect color and the nicest head I ever seen, the weather was nice so the hide perfect, the first shot was back to far and the second took a piece of fur off the neck, easilly reaparable, I have shot a bunch of nice deer and tons of coyotes but enver have I been so exited, as many of you know I ahve wanted a cat for so amny years,I always said I would mount it but seeing it was not one i called in I will wait,it is going intoi a rug or just tanned I am going right now to skin it out wiht the pads and claws on1!! pics are coming!!!
