I'm thinking I wouldn't want to be in the security business today.

Other than that, we as Sportsmen and gun owners have a long road ahead of us. I could beat a dead horse here, but right now, I don't have the energy. Just spent the weekend in New York City for my anniversary and I swear Obama was on everything.

I just hope he has the guts to keep us safe so we are free to argue amongst ourselves (as Americans) the direction this country should be headed. If we don't have security, then no matter what we argue about or accomplish, it will always be in severe jeopardy.

Here is my one thought. The cost of the inaugaration. Seems like I heard that Bush's second cost $40 million. This was lower that his first, due to the cost of the war. Obama's is in the neighborhood of $150 million if I here right. Now what the heck kinda sense does THAT make?

today starts a clean slate with obama. i'll see what he does, and judge it from there. i'll wait until after to applaud or criticize. that said, i'm expecting some bad times and fights ahead but am up for the challenge. i think all our "sportsman for obama" people on here will be in hiding in the next year or 2. all i have is "hope". but i do think the gun barrel is pointed at the bottom of the boat.

Well, it's a historic moment. It should be interesting at the very least. Unfortunately, no one will be able to live up to this level of hype and I hope he doesn't get too caught up in trying to live up to it that he makes poor decisions.

It's going to take a long time to turn the ship around and only sound thinking will do it.

Sounds like the type of thing to expect to hear from the media Eric. The Obama campaign has led an awful lot of people to believe in "change" without fully explaining what all the change would entail. Afraid a lot of people if they open their eyes will be very let down.

At this point he's proven NOTHING...he'll get no criticism or praise.

It's been an overwhelming feeling that "What he needs right now is Prayer".

As far as how bad he's got it to start with:rolleyes:

Tired of hearing the excuses flow towards the previous administration. Quit blaming and setting up the excuses for this new presidents future failures on Bush.

"It was so bad to begin with theres no way Obama could have succeeded"....

He has not made any failures yet so dont bother making the excuses.

I'll pray for him, his success, and his safety.

Because in my opinion thats my personal responsibility to support my president.

Too early to tell.

I'll go into it with an open mind, but most, if not all, democrats let me down.

I like my money, and I know how to spend it. I'm not one for spreading the wealth. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth, I worked my way up, and put myself through college through the graduate level. I had the same opportunities everyone else has in America; if I can do it, anyone can.

Blacks have forgotten the words of Martin Luther King when he said he dreamed of the day a man was judged, not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character. Those who voted for him did so because of the color of his skin and not the content of his character. The man has no content to his character other than to be a good orator. I believe were he alive today and if he truly believed his own words (and wasn't just playing the race card like Colin Powell did - I would have supported Powell up until he showed his true color) MLK would not have supported BHO for the simple lack of character.

I truly hope he succeeds. Not because I like or believe in him. But, rather if he fails - we fail.

That said, I swore the day he was elected I would do it. I couldn't. I couldn't see it flying that way. However, today - as soon as he said the words "So help me God" - I did it. Not out of disrespect for my flag (I have served it since I was 17 for 8 years in the military and 30 years in law enforcement) but because I see us as a country in distress and it is approved flag protocol as a sign of distress and/or danger.

Here we go, there are people everywhere making excuses about why Obama is not going to be

able to fix the country's problems.Although during his campaign, he told everyone how he was

going to fix everything! I can remember at the end of the Clinton administration when everything

was falling apart and I was working in construction. Most of the guys that I worked with were

union democrats and I made it a point to mention about how bad things were getting. I told them that

I bet at the next election they would elect a republican so that they could blame all of the

problems on him. Does anyone remember the Carter administration? When we could only get

gas on odd or even days according to your license plate! Long lines at the filling station,

hostages in Iran and on the news, Carter was telling you to turn down your thermastat in the

winter and turn it up in the summer. Our country was in a terrible mess and then came Reagan.

He got blamed for everything, high interest, unemployment and everything else that was

screwed up, Reagan was blamed for it. Nobody had remembered that it was Carter's fault.

That is exactly what they are doing to Bush.Everything Clinton did while in the White House

was dumped into Bush's lap. Does anybody remember how weak of a President that Clinton was?

We can't afford to have another weak President. This country has been respected because we are strong.

We don't let anyone bully us. If we have any major crisis, like what has happened to us in the last 8 years,

then that will be when all of these people will cry the loudest. LORD HELP US!

Now I know how Charlton Heston felt in the movie when he went up in space and then crashed back on Earth later! IF you know what I mean!!

Hi all...been working pretty grueling schedule since a week or two b/f Christmas. Didn't have time to get on here. I didn't get a chance to watch any of the proceedings today...honeslty wasn't that interested in it. The real work was done over the summer and thru the fall leading up to Election Day. If people (white or black) want to go to Washinton and dance in the streets...that fine with me but you won't catch me spending my money on that.

Here is a little commentary from conservative political stratagist Ed Rollins. He ran Mike Huckabees campaign in the past election.

later.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- President Barack Obama, our newly inaugurated 44th president, showed the millions watching around the world and the freezing millions there in person on the Mall why he won the election -- and why so many believe he can lead us in these troubled times.

I don't believe any other American at this time could have brought this country together in the same way and made Americans feel as good as they do about our new president.

Obviously, being the first African-American president, he brings great pride and hope to millions of those who thought this day might never happen. But it is far more than that.

He is a real talent, one of the best candidates I have ever seen in 40 years in politics. And I just think he may turn out to be a great president. Today, he projected confidence. He was forceful. And he gave one of the most confident and inspirational speeches I have ever heard.

His words were clear and honest:

"Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America -- they will be met.

"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord."

Others have offered hope in the past, others have promised unity and others have promised compassion.

As I watched our former presidents, Jimmy Carter, the elder George Bush and Bill Clinton introduced at the beginning of the inauguration ceremony, I remembered how at each of their inaugurals they began their administrations with great promise.

But in the four years of Bush senior and of Carter and the eight years of Clinton -- as well as the two terms of the man who left the world stage Tuesday, George Walker Bush -- each found their success often overwhelmed by challenges and failure.

This president inherits challenges as great as any president in modern times. But with his incredible discipline, his keen intellect, his empathy with ordinary people and his extraordinary communication skills, Barack Obama might just be the man to guide us through these troubled times.

America wants him to succeed. I have never seen such good will toward a new president in my time in politics. He will forever be the hero to those millions of young people who worked in his election, made the pilgrimage to Iowa and other primary states and traveled to Washington to be a part of history.

The new president is what John Kennedy was to Irish Catholics and Democrats of my generation. He can be what Barry Goldwater and, later, Ronald Reagan were to a new generation of conservatives.

He is the leader of a revolution and a political movement. For my 13-year-old daughter and many of her friends, Obama is their first political hero. He is viewed as different. If he succeeds, he will be a historic president.

Also, his beautiful young family is going to be an extremely positive influence for America, and watching those precious little girls grow up will be a joy for us all.

I write this Tuesday as an American full of pride for my country. I know I will over time differ with the president on many issues, but for today I believe he made us proud and inspired us all. Once again our system works. For that we all should be proud

What we have witnessed is a rapture of the sheeple.

Dictionary.com

Sheeple is a term of disparagement, a portmanteau created by combining the words "sheep" and "people."

It is often used to denote persons who acquiesce to authority, and thus undermine their own human individuality. The implication of sheeple is that as a collective, people believe whatever they are told, especially if told so by authority figures, without processing it to be sure that it is an accurate representation of the real world around them. The term is generally used in a political or religious sense. The singular form of the term is "sherson," however, the plural form is most often used.

The liberal media has fallen over themselves promoting BHO and Americans who live on 15-second sound-bytes without investigating for themselves and making their own decisions bought it.

As an example, the liberal media's numbers don't add up: "Fifty-five million people voted against Obama, so I don't know where the notion got started that 80% of the country is excited about him and can't wait for him to be president." -- Rush Limbaugh

I truly hope he succeeds. Not because I like or believe in him. But rather, if he fails - we fail.

After greater thought, I have to correct this comment. I hope America and American's succeed but I hope BHO fails.

If he succeeds with all his policies then America becomes a Socialist state. In 230 years we've gone from a Republic - the rule of the law as designed by our forefathers - to a democracy wherein it's the rule of government.
