Dakota
So, how much do you get paid to promote products? That is the real question isn't it? If that's the only/main reason you are interested in being a Pro Staffer then it is probably a good thing you're not one. It's not about the money, it's about making connections and doing your best to help represent this sport we know and love in the best light possible. ruttinbuc
Well said, Dakota! People would be surprised at what some pro staffers make. Very surprised. Not what you may think!
crazyfarmer
I'm new here and was wondering how many times ya'll got asked those questions LOL. I know its been a dream of mine for years, but as someone said, its about being in the right place at the right time more than anything. Ive got 2 lil ones growing up so i plan on investing in a good camera and yanever know. Either way, its all about the good times had. I see most dont get paid, but who really cares about making money while you are hunting;) btw, what do most of the pro staffers do for main jobs here when they arent hunting? Just curious about your real world day to day jobs that support the hunting habit;)

jared264mag
Well I may be a rookie but I love to Hunt and just be in the outdoors, where I am at right now in my personal life I would do whatever it takes just to say I was a part of Team Realtree. I will roll up camera cabels, Wash Bill's Truck whatever. I have no problem working behind the camera for however long it takes. I guess you'd say I just want to get my foot in the door somehow and do what it takes to get my way either in Front of the camera or whatever. It's not about the money I'd do it for free if I could ya know but a man does have to make some kind of a living ya know. Fortunantly I am in a place right now where I am single and could do something like be on the road and all that could come with it.
racksandfeathers
The one thing i think all pro staffers have in common that hasn't been said is passion. I have dream that i have been tackling for 2 years now, its that passion that shows and gives one all the qualitys they seek in an indivisual. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gBhybT92qWs see what you think now this is home made but i am trying. Cobequid Big Game Adventur
Wow, many varients goes into being a pro-staffer. As for just the money aspect ,well there probably would not be many pro-staffers if thats all it consisted of LOL,LOL . My main "Job" so to speak is being a maintenance worker at a Hospital here in Nova Scotia Canada. I also Own/Operate a Guide Service here called Cobequid Big Game Outfitters . www.cobequidbiggameoutfitters.com I am a pro-staff shooter for "Firenocks" and I can tell you that it is nice to have some benefits such as free gear, pleasure of meeting new people ,,,promoting their product ,traveling, shooting and such but it is not about the money ,,,actually there is no money what so ever involved . The biggest benitfit for me as a staffer is meeting new people and traveling to various Outdoor shows and Exibitions. Most times people or viewers see that you are a pro-staffer and right away you make big bucks !!! Not !!! You have to have ambition for one and Devotion #2 !!!! Everyone has a dream to become famous ,,,ya ya ya but hey if I can only help a few people in this world that means i have tried and I feelthat I gave my efforts in doing so . I am a also a certified archery coach for Canada and have helped many archers throughout their hunting and target archery careers . Not for the money ,,for the fun of it ,,,the passion for it !!! I tip my hat to the pro-staffers for taking the time to give time ot others and be there to help them out and being an Idol for my children !! God Bless ! NBomb500
I enjoyed reading all of these comments. Great information and now many questions I had are answered. So thanks! I love what you guys do and now have a greater appreciation for what all goes on. I would love to be a realtree pro staffer, but for now I am just getting behind the video camera and hopefully one of the pro staff in the future would like to come out to our farm/property in eastern Montana for a hunt after a 150's maybe 160 class whitetail buck. I love to learn, and take instructions well, but I still come to the same place; where do I start when I do not know anyone in the industry? So for now I am going to start videoing some Montana hunts and hopefully will be able to produce and market a DVD through sponsorship in the next few years. My wife and I are going to Montana here in a couple of weeks and I am excited. Hopefully we will have success and I will definitely be posting some pictures when we get back. I would appreciate any tips. Thank you, Nathan Fatzinger

RTPROFamily
Tink is still in Pike County Nathan. He stopped by our house yesterday with a young man who was wounded in Iraq in 2008.(nice young man) Tink couldn't stay long as he and Randy both were headed back to the woods. Tink will be in IL. until next Wednesday at noon. Then he will be headed back to TX. Should be home by next Friday night. Darla

Reaper
pro ? anything....only if they can make a living at it, are they considered "pro", in my books. and even then, I have really yet to meet an all knowing expert (seems we can ALWAYS learn something new -- with an open mind, that is) Unfortunately, I have met some very egotisical hunters (some "pro"...big public namers) that have let their egos get the best of them, and are hunting for all the wrong reasons, and some are also very unethical hunters....... :bang:THAT saddens me, especially to see their pictures in hunting magazines. Professional manner would be the best if always followed.
Fullfan
Pro staffer I am here to tell you that all the pro staffers make me sick. Sure the pro's get- r -done. Most are guided hunts or on a lease some where. Well if they can put in 40-50 hours a week at a normal job and still kill the game then they can talk to me. I am the voice of the adverge joe that just wants to be out there. Here are the 2 bulls I killed on hard hunted ground in Idaho and Montana last fall, no guide needed just some desire. One tag was a draw, the other as an OTC tag. Here are a several whitetails from the hard hunted NW/Pa public ground, no guide or lease. Oky we ca not forget the longbeards.. even my son can get -r-done Even my 15 year old son can play. . I could go on and on, you do not need to be pro-or pro staffer. Just have a desire. Any pro staffer want to hunt with me?? I doubt you could keep up.... And I am willing to bet that my son has seen more and missed more game than most pro staffers were able to get close to. So bring the flames, because I have been there and done that.. Edited January 25, 2010 by Fullfan
Tim Andrus
Well Full Fan, I too work a regular job usually 16 hours at a crack. And Im a average guy like you. Never once said I was better than anyone. As far as hunts go 40 plus outa state here 5 with outfitters (friends) the rest were DIY hunts I scouted ,hung stands and alot of times came home empty handed.. Anyway, thats my 2 cents here
The_Kat
I think someone is a bit jealous they're not on TV.....nice animals you and your family harvested. However....don't try and cram your opinion down our throats though. Your barking up the wrong tree and will quickly find the door if you want to try and insult our prostaff members. GWSmith
ROTFLMBO...You dont even know me and I make you sick??? I'm an "Average Joe" and the only voice you are is for your own Ego. With the way things are if your not happy with them...Start Your Own TV Show. I'm just a guy who got lucky enough to be asked by a company to represent them. It sounds like your more Bitter than anything that something like that has not happened for you...I hope that it does just so you realize for yourself that it changes nothing about the person you actually are in real life. I cant imagine why a company has not jumped at the chance to have you stand up as their face to the public.
