So you want to be a "Hunting Pro?"

Recommended Posts

I cant imagine why a company has not jumped at the chance to have you stand up as their face to the public.

Maybe it's because his ego will not fit into the camera lens.

Dude, its obvious your a good hunter and your son has followed suite but you can't hold or call out others of what got, because of an oppertunity they received. If its fame that you want, then put more time in advertising your skills than spending them in the woods. I know some guys that consistantly kill trophy game animals and have no animosity towards pro-hunters/staffers.

Enjoy your hunts and quit aiming at others hunters, we've got enough people out there that don't hunt doing this.

That is a great collection of trophy's you have there, Fullfan. No doubt you put your time in for you and your son to have that success. I question your purpose. Is this some sort of resume looking for a position as a pro staffer?

There is really no need to pound your chest and put others down in the process. You act like there is nothing to what these "prostaffers" do. Just to clarify who are you refering to here? People who are promotional staff representing manufacturers endorsing products behind the scenes or those on TV?

Do people not realize a Pro staff is PRO MOTIONAL not PRO FESSIONAL..... I guarantee you Waddell hunts hard and often during deer season and turkey season, but with that I also guarantee you he is still out promoting Realtree, Bone Collector, Flextone, and so on and so fourth.... Dude you look like you've got a nice family and if you want to see them about 85% less than what you do now, go ahead and go get on a serious Promotional staff somewhere.... those boys stay on the road doing various shows, (ie SHOT show, NWTF ect) Bass Pro events at local stores, TV tapings.... That whole post you made was a hey look at me I can do it why isnt Bill Jordan beating my door down wanting me on his team.... Ill tell you what We'll make you the very first Realtree Forums PROFESSIONAL staff member..... Congrats ........ Oh and Tominator that was funny :fish:

I was going to mention, but KT beat me to it...that these Pro Staffer spend more time away from home and family..they earn a living as well. It looks, by your photos, that you don't do too bad a job yourself with making some $ to pay for your trips and equipment. Oh yeah, and what's up with all the Mossy Oak camo?? LOL

He's come across a little hostile. Can't really be that way if he expects to have someone promote their products. That's too bad, because it looks like he's successful in putting game on the ground.

Hostile, Cocky, Prideful..... :poke:

I am here to tell you that all the pro staffers make me sick. Sure the pro's get- r -done. Most are guided hunts or on a lease some where. Well if they can put in 40-50 hours a week at a normal job and still kill the game then they can talk to me. I am the voice of the adverge joe

all the pro staffers make you sick...eh. They have regular jobs just like you and me, and you are not the voice of an average joe. I won't let you speak for me...thank you.

I could go on and on..........

No, I think you've said too much already:rolleyes:

Any pro staffer want to hunt with me?? I doubt you could keep up.... And I am willing to bet that my son has seen more and missed more game than most pro staffers were able to get close to.

SOoooooooooooooooooooo what.

So bring the flames.

I'd like to add, that It's been a while since I heard someone so full of themselves, that they are willing to say that, Promotional staff for our hunting industry in General, all make you sick, and in the next breath say you are speaking for the average Joe. I am an average Joe, and I take offense to you assuming to speak for me.

You see, I am not a moderator or a pro-staffer, so right now, I don't really have have to be patient, polite, or a people person, when it comes to addressing your arrogant post.:p

There is a saying in the advertising industry, that has nothing to do with hunting, but everything to do with you right now, and it goes like this. .."You asked for it...You got it...Toyota"

I hope your boy doesn't grow up to be a self-serving narcissist like Daddy.

Fullfan-

You need to direct your disrespect somewhere else man! There is no place on this forum for "woe is me" self pitty. I guarantee you that most pro staffers of any kind have secondary jobs. I know one realtree prostaffer personally that puts in more than your average 40 hr. work week farming and then traveling the country promoting his sponsors and his talent. You need to do some background checking before you lump all prostaffers is your discontent.

While you and your son may have put nice animals down in the past, most of us on here could do the same thing by posting our successful hunts(and most have) but we dont do it to prove that we are better than the next guy. we do it for the love of the hunts and the time spent in the outdoors with family and friends.

Please dont come on here and taint this site with your whinning about something you have no control of. Your not teaching your son anything good by putting your "woe is me" belogna on a public forum.

I understand that there are a lot of people out there that kill big animals every year but are never recognized for it.

I have a lot of friends that kill bigger animals than me and they never see a magazine page or TV.

But you ask that same person , do you want to go clear across the country and film for a show and then the excuses start coming out. I can't miss work, I can't leave my family .

I don't think you realize what some prostaffers give up for their career. In the first place, I could have killed a lot of deer this year

that would have made me proud but camera light and video angles kept me from doing that. When an outfitter gives you a free hunt for advertisement

you have to do your best to satisfy your obligation. I have spent thousands of dollars this year on tags that I never filled.

So it is not as easy as most people think it is. Example, I brought home a 135 inch mule deer from CO. when I could have brought home a 200 plus mule deer but

it has to be on video.I understand the frustration of thinking that you can do it better than someone else and maybe that is true but until you walk a mile in their shoes you need keep your to opinions to a minimum.

As far as keeping up, I had a friend go with me this weekend to SCI show in Reno,NV.

Just some of the comments he made was : I never realized when you say you drive straight through, you really do drive straight through!

He was begging to stop for bathroom breaks in between gas fillups. He was chewing on the upholstery in the car because he said why don't you stop to eat. He was talking on the phone to his little girl saying hon I miss you too! His wife was calling every 2hours hours saying are you almost home. It was amazing to him what he thought was so much fun getting to meet all of these people turns into a real job. As an after thought, far as having to work and hunt too. I write for 3 different publications, i film for different outfitters and TV shows, I do shows all across the country and I live on a cattle farm. So, just as an example, I had to put enough hay out for the cattle while I was in Reno for 5 days. Then, I drove straight back home to freezing snow and rain with 35-40mph winds and after 28 hours on the road home from Reno, 2 hours sleep and I am back out feeding cattle to get ready to leave for Chicago in the morning.

While I was in Reno, I had to give up a free cougar hunt because I have signed contract obligations for shows. I am not even going to go into what I have give up in my personal life for dating and social.

But I am Proud to be a Prostaffer for the all of companies I represent!

I should have taken a few deep breaths before I replied too. :D

Nawww...I'd rather know how you really feel Steve.:D Thanks...I'm right beside you buddy and share your true feelings.;) FF doesn't speak for me as an average joe hunter either.

If one word were to express my feelings after reading FF's post it would be "livid". Nuff said or I risk getting banned.

Thanks for your response too Randy. I doubt he gets it though.

Thanks, but why get a new truck this one only has 245,000

miles on it. This just goes to show you that not all of us are rich!

Sweet..........Gotta love the old Ford like that. My Ranger has 210,000 and I wish it would last forever. Koudos for being humble and living within your means. You certainly do Realtree and the Forums Proud.

I want to thank all for all of the good words about Randy. He has had that Ford since it was brand new ( a 2000 F-150) and only changes the oil every 50,000 miles whether it needs it or not!:D. He just replaced the spark plugs at 200,000 miles and

has never had any major problems with it. He also has a 1999 Ranger for hauling square bails of hay that has about 180,000 on it and his 2000 Excursion, which he is driving to the show today in Rosemont,IL. has about 175,000 on it. He rented a Surburban to go out to Reno last week and he said the only good thing about it was the gas mileage. He said that its seats were hard and uncomfortable for a long trip.

He does have 2, 1991 Chevy corvettes that he bought, one from Ebay and one locally. Those cars are the only gift that he has bought for himself in all of his years of doing shows. They sit during the winter and are only driven in good weather. One did go on a hunting trip to Steve B's one year!

Thanks all and being a Prostaff mom can be difficult also.

I am having to do all of the chores in the cold and wind!

Thanks again to all our our Realtree friends!

Darla
